A question about two different extensions for a website?

What is the difference between .com and .net for a website address?

.com stands for a company

.net stands for a ?

If I want to create a website address, which one that I could pick one of these extensions?
 
.net stand for network Like ISP Provider or Network Backbone companies or maybe a Network Chat room or Forum etc.

But you can use any domain extension you want. They are not restricted you to limit which extension.

Suppose, I created my website address like Hello.net as long as my website's title should be "Hello.net" on the front page. If someone types hello.com on the browser instead of hello.net, then it would be out of luck because someone already registered Hello.com before me. Is that correct?

I made a list of 20 different names, and all of them are already registered. What a pain the neck!

If hello.com is already taken but hello.net is avaliable then yes you can register hello.net and your visitor can type hello.net on browser to go your website.
But you need to be aware of Trademark Name law.

Example: If Pepsi company register pepsi.com then you cannot go register pepsi.net or pepsi.org if avaliable and sell soda pop with different name on website Like Frizzy Pop. You probably can keep pepsi.net or pepsi.org but you would have to be careful what you put on your website and make sure zero mention soda pop etc.


Because it show you purposely want to generate traffic to your website using their trademark name to sell a competitive soda drink cuz you know people will sometime make mistake and enter .net instead of .com etc.

You should make a link where the people falls for 'free fuel' but finds themselves calling 'You're an damn idioit'
