I happen to find a good poem and would like to share this with you.
INVISIBLE
We thirty million ghosts roam the United States
And the good God-fearing folk like it just fine.
They've heard we are here; think not one of us is near them
We're abstract oddities; out of sight; out of mind.
That's until we say boo about the things we hold dear
Equality and marriage and hate crime laws spook them
Our gentle apparitions commence to appear,
And distract them from the evil elephant in the room.
Is it easier to maintain a peace through silence?
Can we just ignore them and they ignore us?
I'd thought perhaps so, until they unveiled a glistening machine
designed to ghost-bust.
So they've forced our choosing, correct that a choice exists,
But wrong to believe we can just flip a switch.
So make your choice, lest the choosing be done for you:
An airy ghost, or something more powerful?
For my part, I choose not to be invisible.
