Once Upon A Time There Lived A Princess. She Lived High Atop A Mountain In A Castle All Alone, For Alas, Her Prince Had Lost His Life In Battle, Just A Few Months Before. She Had Always Known There Was A "special" Someone Out In The Kingdom Waiting For Her..she Had Sensed It Even As A Child Playing..and Although There Was No Doubt She Loved Her Prince And He Loved Her..he Too Knew, He Never Held Her Whole Heart. He Told The Princess Should Anything Happen To Him, To Open Her Heart Again When She Found That "one" Who Had Been Searching For Her Their Entire Life..the Prince Loved The Princess That Much!!
Time Passed But Finally, On Day, The Princess Gained The Strength Of Self To Venture Out Of The Castle. She Walked Through The Beautiful Forest, Lush And Green And Fragrant That Surrounded The Castle Were She Lived Until She Came Upon A Large Flat Rock, Next To A Stream. It Has Been Heated Be The Morning Sun And She Climbed Upon It And Rested..leaning Back..face Tilted Up Towards That Same Warm Sun..as She Lay There She Heard Voices Of Men Coming Through The Woods Behind Her, But She Dare Not Move, Nor Look...she Was, After All, The Princess. As The Men Passed Through The Woods Behind Her She Heard A Voice That Sounded "familiar" To Her...and Although She Could Not Hear What The Men Were Saying..that One Voice Sent Chills Through Her..could It Be? Was This The "one" She Had Been Waiting For All Her Life??
She Let The Men Pass With Out Moving Or Even Opening Her Eyes, Hoping To Go Unnoticed. She Finally Exhaled Slowly When She Could No Longer Hear Them And Was Sure They Had Passed And Were Gone. She Gathered Herself, Sat Up And Turned Slowly...to See A Young Knight Standing There...looking Directly Into Her Eyes...smiling. When The Princess Finally Allowed Herself To Look Into The Eyes Of This Young Knight, She Knew Immediately He Was The "one" She Had Been Waiting For All Her Life. Without Speaking A Word The Princess And The Knight Stood There, Smiling At One Another, Each Knowing They Had Found The Other After Years Of
Feeling Incomplete And Aching For That Missing Piece Of Themselves.
They Spent The Next Months Meeting Secretly In That Forest, Surrounded By All Things Beautiful In Nature And The Princess Was Happy Again, At Last. One Day The Knight Told The Princess He Would Not Be Able To Meet Her The Next Day. He Had Been Called To Serve Another..but He Would Return, For Their Love Was True And Lasting. A Love That Even Time And Space Could Not Keep Their Hearts Apart....so...the Princess Made Her Way Back To The Castle And Watched And Waitied For Her Knight To Return To Her. She Went To The Highest Point Of The Castle And Watched Out Into The Forest, For Him To Return To Her..but Alas..tho She Waited..he Never Returned.
The Princess Was Broken Hearted And Sat In That Same Room, In The Tower Of Her Castle For Months. Then , Finally One Day, After He Had Been Gone For Such A Very Long Time..the Knight Returned. Calling Up To The Princess, He Somehow Seemed Different After Being Away For So Long But The Princess Smiled And Cryed And Thought... At Last, My Love Has Returned To Me And We Shall Live Happily Ever After.....but There Was No Smile From The Knight, In Fact He Told The Princess That He Could No Longer Profess His Love For Her And Turned Away From Her After She Had Supported His Family, In Secret While He Was Away Fighting His Battles. It Seemed As If The Knight Was Someone Else, Changed By Whatever He Had Seen And Whtever Had Happened To Him.
The Princess Thought, How Could This Be. For He Had Professed His Love For Her In Word And Deed Before He Left. She Tried To Remind Him Of All The Happy Times They Had Shared, But The Knight Told The Princess His Heart Had Changed And He Had Forgotten Those Times. He No Longer Loved Her...and Pulling Away Turned And Left.
The Princess Returned , Once Again, To Her Castle..went To The Highest Point, Where She Could Look Out And See The Stream And That Flat Rock She Had Sat Upon That First Day She Realized That Young Knight Was The "one" She Had Waited For All Her Life. Where
They Had Spent Many Happy Moments Together...and She Watched And Hoped And Waited..for The Knight To Remember Their Love, And Return To Her...
She Waits There Still...to This Very Day..alone..with A Heart That Had Once Been Loving And Strong, Trusting , Giving And Kind....now Broken And Betrayed. Now Each Night She Looks At The Stars And The Moon..and Without A Sound Speaks His Name, For She Knows She Has Been Changed Forever..
