There is now computer school for the deaf.
The deaf who graduated from high school can continue their post secondary education by attending the Computer Trainers Education for the Deaf ( CTED).
The course aims to train computer instructors who will be deployed nationwide. For the launching of the program, 26 scholars were selected. Four came from Baguio, two from Bulacan, two from Nueva Ecija, six from Zambales and twelve from Pampanga.
In 2007, the increasing number of deaf high school graduates who did not have the opportunity to get a college education became a concern of the Inocencio Magtoto Memorial Foundation, Inc. an institution for persons with disabilities.
Discussions were conducted among graduating high school deaf students and results showed that the deaf wanted to take computer courses and more than half wanted to be teachers for the deaf.
The school is located at the IMMF Inc. compound in Dolores , San Fernando, Pampanga.
According to IMMF Manager Claire Magtoto, it was the foundation which initiated the establishment of the first public high school in Central Luzon for the deaf. To date, the Mawaque Resettlement High School in Mabalacat and the FG Nepomuceno High School in Angeles City have opened classes for the deaf.
In 2009, the City of San Fernando put up a city college and the parents of graduating students advocated for the inclusion of a curriculum for the deaf in its college program.
The Computer Trainers Education for the Deaf is a pilot project of the Liliane Foundation in partnership with the University of the Assumption, CBR Foundation of the Diocese of Iba, Zambales, Brothers of Charity, Akbay Lingap , Inc., and the Manila Christian Computer Institute for the Deaf.
