Baby with 2 faces born in North India

SAINI SUNPURA, India - A baby with two faces was born in a northern Indian village, where she is doing well and is being worshipped as the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess, her father said Tuesday.

The baby, Lali, apparently has an extremely rare condition known as craniofacial duplication, where a single head has two faces. Except for her ears, all of Lali's facial features are duplicated — she has two noses, two pairs of lips and two pairs of eyes.

This is interesting.

Whoa that is scary....I would kinda feel sad because kids would tease her. :( I hope she is happy child when she is growing up.

Yeah I seen this news yesterday evening, that child will go through hard life and she gonna get tease, make fun of or even call her a freak of nature. But I do hope she will be protected, love, cherish and giving all the support that child will need for the rest of her life. Something like that happen is not easy on a child.

Wow.. Hope this baby will be a happy child in the future..

Yes, I hope this little girl will be treated like the person she is.

Hopefully she won't be as of right now shes being worshiped so it looks good that she won't be teased

the dad's a moron. he says he doesn't want to get a CT scan for her to check for internal damage because she's all fine and dandy at the moment. that baby's not going to live long.

This is an interesting article. Since the baby is doing fine right now, it doesn't mean that it could continue to be fine later on in life. Complications can come up along down the road.

I also have to wonder, How long will she be worshiped? Is it only for a short time or it will be like that for the rest of her life? Let's hope she continues to be in good health and in good hands when she grows.

attn: everybody

if your child is born with a severe defect, take it to India to be worshipped as a divine incarnation.

All what I hope for her is her happy childhood.

I have read few weeks ago about an American teenager with 2 heads, 2 arms and 2 legs, with double organ. Should I say "They/"She"? I will check their name and then put in google for you all to read... They/she positive their/her childhood life. They/She want to have a baby... The doctor said that They/She have chance to have a baby.

Freaky..... I feel sorry for the kid though - I would be having every test run to ensure that everything really is fine and dandy before taking her home. Also I would looking to surgery to fix the fact that she has a really fucked up airway - how do you do CPR on a kid like that?! That's any medics worst nightmare.

Infant girl has an extra pair of eyes, nose, and lips; parents say she is fine

SAINI, India - The family of an Indian baby born with two faces has refused special medical treatment for the infant, saying she is the incarnation of a Hindu goddess.

The month-old girl suffers from what appears to be craniofacial duplication, an extremely rare congenital disorder in which part of the face is duplicated on the head.

Lali (red), born to a family of poor farm laborers in a village about 34 miles east of New Delhi, has an extra pair of eyes, nose, and lips.

Media reports said she ate with both mouths and blinked all four eyes.

The anomaly gave the newborn god-like status in the village, with hundreds of people flocking to the family’s dilapidated brick house to worship her and seek blessings.

'She is fine'

The family sees little to differentiate her from other babies and refused to take her to a specialist doctor.

“She is fine. She sleeps, eats and cries like other normal babies ... A local doctor said there is nothing wrong with the child,” Bhram Singh, Lali’s grandfather, told Reuters in this village of brick houses and wheat fields.

But he insists the infant is the incarnation of a Hindu goddess and points to the loudspeaker outside his house which blares religious hymns all day.

Villagers believe Lali, named that because of her bright red cheeks, is a form of Shakti, the Hindu goddess of power.

“The birth is a miracle and a good sign for the village,” said Daulat Ram, the village chief.

But the number of onlookers has dwindled as the “miracle” turns a month old on Friday, and few visitors now venture into the dusty lanes of Saini looking for the house where Lali lives.

Ram says that’s because everyone in the vicinity had satiated their curiosity.

“People are busy with the harvest season and have work to do. They won’t keep coming back at this time.”
