Clint Eastwood ran for mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif so he could puts laws for his own benefits .

Maybe people were falling over while drunk and getting hurt so they had to sit down to drink. That is good question and I wonder if people even remeber why some laws were made b/c they're so outdated.

Not really, back in 1960s in Alabama, only grocery and gas stations were allowed to open.

In our county, no one could buy alcoholic beverage on Sunday - all day.
