Yet we still continue to bomb them with clear conscience? :eek3:

Arab Americans are as diverse as the national origins and immigration experiences that have shaped their ethnic identity in the United States, with religious affiliation being one of the most defining factors. The majority of Arab Americans descend from the first wave of mostly Christian immigrants. Sharing the faith tradition of the majority of Americans facilitated their acculturation into American society, as did high intermarriage rates with other Christian ethnic groups. Even though many Arab Christians have kept their Orthodox and Eastern Rite church (Greek Catholic, Maronite, Coptic) affiliations, which have helped to strengthen ethnic identification and certain rituals, their religious practices have not greatly distinguished them from the Euro-centric American culture. Roughly two-thirds of the Arab population identifies with one or more Christian sect.

Wow. I know I am ignorant about Arabs, Arab Americans, and Islam, but I didn't know about so many catholic. :ty: for the intersting information and great link, Lumbingmi!

I refuse to discuss politics for this very reason, because too many make wild claims from emotions instead of reason. This post is a perfect example of false (misleading) argument, called "begging the question." Whether on purpose or not, the result is twisting facts to mislead others.

While the basics cited may be true, our military is NOT bombing Arab Americans as implied. Arab Americans, by definition, live in the U.S. When and where did "we" bomb them? Certainly not here in this country. Several work and study at my college. It's true many are Christians, but they came here to avoid persecution by radical Muslims in Persia.

I'm sure many innocent Persian Arabs have been killed overseas, but the U.S. military targets there are not Arabs, per se, or even Muslims, but those of extreme Muslims sects who were responsible for air attacks in New York and Washington in September 2001 and are still killing their own people by roadside and suicide bombing. They are still plotting to eliminate other religions, including Jews and Christians.

I also know I will now undergo bitter emotional attacks and name-calling, but misrepresentations -- even for good causes -- hurt us all.

Hmm... I am nothing against the Arabs even though if they are based on any of religion. I am only against those damn people who love to discrimination, prejudge, hate, etc to others on their base of religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, etc.

Unclear

Abe Lincoln said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

So far this thread “backed up” by a quote having nothing whatsoever to do with the lead statement has at least impressed half those responding. Actually, that’s probably a better victory than the hoaxer counted on.

Anyway, my conscious is now unclear (much like the premise of this thread), because I showed the text of this post to Arsh, my Persian-American friend whose family escaped Iraq to the U.S. in 1999 and converted to Catholicism.

He stated the bombing part is true. He doesn’t know about in Dearborn, Reba, but he said he got bombed at his last birthday party right here in Albany and suffered a severe hangover for two days after.

He also mentioned that any cell of extremist Muslims in Iraq or Iran would behead him on the spot for that. Think about it.

True.

But Father O'Malley won't do that to him. :D
