37 pound woman has healthy baby boy

Expensive hospital bills and genetic counseling, that husband probably got a good paying job.

I guess 5 years later he can take his son to a baseball game. :aw:

Don't count on it. Most disabled end up on medicaid because their conditions aren't covered by insurances due to the pre-existing condition clause.

This is exactly why I chose NOT to have children! Every woman has the God-given right to bear children, but sometimes that right should NOT be exercised. That's just my opinion.

Right, it's YOUR opinion...if you feel YOU should not have children, OK--but you can't tell others what is right or wrong for them.

:) Boy, talking about defying the odds. She is a very brave person to have made this decision, which she had done some careful thinking, and had gotten professional to help her along with their decision. I am very happy for her that she was able to have a healthy baby, a good husband that respects her, and now they have their baby, their own little family. I give her credit for defying the odds, and making a brave decision. She must have wanted a child badly enough, that she didn't put herself first, she had a big enough heart to give love to another human being that she carried.

I didn't. I just expressed an opinion.

Many times women with congenital defects have children for their own reasons, and they end up doing serious harm to their health. Consider this.. If the woman's health ends up becoming more compromised as a result of pregnancy, what kind of life is she giving her child if she is always dealing with health complications? Like I said, just because a woman can have children, it doesn't always mean she should.

You don't know what kind of life she would be giving her child, frankly. She could be a loving mother with a good support system who provides a good example for her child, for all you know--even with health problems.

Eugenics is not a good idea.

Wow, what an amazing story....I agree with CODAChild on this, " the mother has big heart to give love to another human being that she carried "....<< well said there ;)...

There are homeless children who need home, she should have adopted one or two.

If this woman want to have a baby, then let her, she doesn't have to adopted one just cause she has health issue...

I think any women has the right to have a baby, no one shouldn't say they couldn't....

A woman who has minor birth defect, gave her child a severe birth defect.

That child has to live in cruel world twice as bad. Even the child's father left her.

And I saw on Oprah, a lady with deformed fingers, passed on her bad gene to her daughter who also has deformed fingers.
The daughter said she mostly hid her fingers in her pockets, because the world is so cruel.

And anyway, even tho this child is healthy and did not inherit his mother's bone disease, the grandchildren might get it.
It might skipped generation and pass on to 3rd generation.
