Just in today:
From Detroit's Auto Show The Big Three and the imports just unveiled several new cars and trucks that are totally kick-ass:
1) 2K5 Ford Mustang. The new Mustang is totally awesome considering it looks more like the 1968 Mustang 2+2 Fastback that Frank Bullitt ran through San Francisco.
2) 2K5 Ford Five Hundred. The Five Hundred is bigger than the Taurus it replaces. It looks almost the same as the Audi A6. (J Mays, Ford's designer worked for VW/Audi before moving to Ford)
3) Ford Bronco Concept Car. The new Bronco is much smaller than OJ Simpson's Bronco. It brings the Bronco back to the original that ran from 1966 to 1977 before being replaced by one based off the F150 truck in 1978.
4) Pontiac Solstice Roadster: It's a 2 door roadster for Pontiac to compete with the Mazda MX5 Miata. It comes with a 170 hp 4 cylinder motor driving the rear wheels. It's based off GM's new Kappa chassis that will also see it being used for the new Chevy Nomad wagon and Saturn sports car. The Solstice goes on sale probably this summer for only 20,000 bucks.
5) Shelby Cobra Concept:...It's what the old Shelby Cobra would look like if it was for sale right now in 2K4. Ford stuffed a 600 hp V-10 in the car's engine bay. If the Viper SRT-10 goes up against the Cobra in a drag race I predict the Viper will be sent home with its tail between its legs.
6) Chrysler ME Four-Twelve: 800 hp and it eats Ferrari Enzos for dinner with a Lamborghini Murcielago for snacks in-between!
7) Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300: Rear-wheel drive sedans and wagons are back in Detroit..BIG TIME! Dodge Magnum is available only in wagon and the 300 is a sedan. Buyers can order the 345 hp HEMI V-8 engines along with Mercedes 5-speed trannies.
8) Toyota FTX Concept truck. This truck is Toyota's answer to the Ford Super Duty 250 and 350 trucks. The Texas-built truck will have 1/2 gas 1/2 electric hybrid power for power and gas-saving.
9) Honda SUT Truck Concept: This is Honda's 1st time to compete in the truck market. The truck's a crew-cab based off the Honda Pilot/Acura MDX chassis. Look for Honda Civic owners to trade their Civics for the new trucks when it goes on sale perhaps next year.
10) C6 Corvette.....It's awesome and IMO it does look good for sure! 400 hp LS2 V-8 is standard on the car. The C6 Corvette is similiarly engineered as its sister, the Cadillac XLR roadster.
11) Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept: Mitsubishi ought to make that puppy quick! The current Eclipse is *bleh* and I'd rather have the old Eclipse than the current one.
There are many more to mention but why don't y'all go over to http://autoweek.com/specials/2004_detroit/ and look at the pics of the cars from the Detroit Auto Show.
