2 million Facebook, Gmail and Twitter passwords stolen in massive hack

I know people are having their email accounts hacked into and everyone on their contact list get an email thinking it's from someone they know. The subject will be 'Hi' , 'Hello' or "Greeting" or even have your username .
Or it will say your package has arrived . I gotten a few emails that said my packed arrived from Fedx . I mark it 'spam' then delete it. I heard if do open that email you will get hacked into .

It's true-- that's exactly what they do. That's why my laptop has antivirus on it-- to protect against malware, and/or spyware.

antivirus can only protect what they're programmed to look out for. if the virus isn't in its database... you're screwed.

Hence the spam folder. Anything in there I don't know where it's from goes straight to the cyber garbage can, as I like to think.

Aren't hackers coming up with new ways to steal people info all the time? Do you know a good antivirus to use?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. (Free to download). I posted the link on Audiofuzzy's post about her YouTube problems.

Smart browing, yes, but serious protection is also necessary. You dont wanna wake up one day and find yourself thousands of dollars in the hole now, do you?

FYI - I don't have anti-virus or any security program.

Each to his own. Some people can do wirhout, but most of us would rather be safe than sorry.

I'm no fan of Facebook, and I wouldn't join even if someone paid me to.
