Sounds like a rough situation :( Have you asked him about it? He might struggling with the situation himself? The turmoil of having a daughter whose deaf? How did he handle it when you found out?

Well that sounds pretty standard? I would be fine just talking to someone. I just didn't want to do something stupid or maybe offensive because of the cultural difference that might be present.
