    sleep and ha's

I don't sleep with my HA at night. It whistles too much and I don't like the slimy film the ear wax does to the earmold. However for short naps I do. As for the tennitus, I get it too. I just take melatonin to get to sleep easier. Melatonin is a natural hormone that your body makes during...

    Curious....

From what I am getting, for me the HA and CI won't be much different. I hear pretty clear with the HA. The only difference is that I might be able to hear the voices a bit better. Certainly would be an interesting thing to find out. This gave me a chuckle. Thanks. lol.

I get new HAs every 5 years. The ones I am wearing now is the Phonak SonoForte2. I hear everything with it. When I got it I heard bacon frying on a pan. Did you know it makes a Ssssss sound? I didn't. It was cool. My Audi says that it's the most powerful HA out there and I can't get...

    Good alarm for deaf student

Curious, do anyone of you jump everytime the alarm vibrates? I do all the time. I freak out and so does my cat. It's kind of funny too. My roomie's cat likes to lay on top of it and look at everything. I think he enjoys the sensation of the world shaking. It's very odd!

Will do R2D2. I am just waiting for the grace period between now and when they retest me. It feels like it's taking forever though. Audiofuzzy, thanks for the advice. I'll look into the book and read it sometime between my massive study crams. As for switching into the deaf ways...I am...

    Curious....

With both ears wearing hearing aids I can function quite well in the hearing world, however things now have changed. The past two months I've noticed that I wasn't hearing things well (things sounded fuzzy and hazy) and I was missing out on a lot of sounds. I went to my audiologist because of...

I have moderate hearing on my left and severe hearing on my right. The hearing I am losing hearing on the right side. The left ear is doing perfectly well, no changes so far. Hopefully it stays that way for a while *crosses fingers*. I've worn hearing aids since I was 4 years old. I have...

    Curious....

I am 23 years old, was born hard of hearing and worn hearing aid on both ears since I was four. I just found out that I am losing what little hearing I have left in my right ear and I should consider getting a cochlear implant. I am actually slightly scared. I was wondering if you could...

my puppy destroyed my hearing aid

My cat used to pick them up and carry them someplace else. I've trained him to stay away from them and I also try to be extra careful, I place them in a container when I have them off so he doesn't hide them. Its bad enough he likes playing with bottlecaps from water bottles. I got at least 50...

Are you happy with your deafness?

I am HOH and I am very happy with being HOH. I can hear things that are very interesting. It's nice to know what and where the sounds are coming from. It's also nice to take out my hearing aids when I get a nasty headache or turn them off when someone is talking excessively. I usually say my...

I'm back...and sorry I was gone for so long!

Finally after 5 months...I have been able to come back and chat on here. Things got hectic once college ended and I had to move back home (4 hours away). Then I had to deal with the home front (it's a war zone there I swear)... After 3 1/2 months of that I had to deal with moving back to...

    SERIOUS question for PARENTS only

Honestly I would just have your daughter fitted for hearing aids and see if that works. I wouldnt get CI unless she really wants it and knows the implications of it. My reasons behind this is that once you have the surgery for the CI it destroys the cochlea. You can never use it again. I...
