Question about HA batteries - for HA wearers only

Have you ever experienced having a package of 14 batteries being all bad. Lasting only one-two hours. I've been experiencing this as of late. I dont know if it's the batteries or if it's my hearing aid.

    Two girls with CI...

As I sit here and read how you guys think the girl's parents aren't considering the deaf world, I wonder if you guys ever thought about what was it like to be them. Here they are with a deaf child. They don't know anything but the hearing world. They don't know anything about the deaf world...

    Who attends college/university this year?

I go to Dakota State University in Madison, SD. The school is decent, if you have a computer science, but not if you don't have a science/math major. I would like to transfer out but I am so close to graduating it's not even worth the energy to think about it. Dunno where I'd transfer...

"Oh, you speak so well!" and other annoying comments

Please don't get offended, this is just an idea/concept that hearing people see it as. Many deaf people tend to talk through their noses, or at least that's what it sounds like. It sounds nasally. So when they run across someone who speech isn't as nasally. Another thing is due to the...

    Information on audiogram

Thanks for sharing. It was actually very nice to be able to show my hearing friends the difference between my hearing and theirs. They now understand things a lot better.

    Results from recheck on hearing

I have talked to the ADA. I have notetakers in class. As for interpreters, I don't think my hearing is that bad yet. I am currently wearing the FM system in class, which is helping a lot. You reminded me to email my audi about the CI. TY.

    Results from recheck on hearing

I never got the feeling I was the only HOH/deaf kid in the world. Yeah I got lonely but I knew and felt that there were others out there like me. I really didn't go through social issues. I did go through issues like why me, why should I have the disability and not somebody else. I quickly...

    Never ever declaw a cat...

It is inhumane, but sometimes you have no choice. My cat won't give cuddles to anyone else but me. He has choosen me and refuses to have anyone else. I had to declaw him or else I'd end up shredded up in bits.

    Never ever declaw a cat...

It depends. I am actually very much against declawing cats, but with my cat I had no choice. When my cat cuddles with me, he likes to dig behind my head. When he did this, he would leave scratch marks all over my scalp, neck and my ear. I gave him 6 months to learn not to do so. The final...

    Too adorable not to share...

Yeah my roomie's cat loves to eat it. It odd to watch him start eating it out of nowhere. He just didn't want to stop either. Apparently it's like candy to him.

    Too adorable not to share...

I actually have 3 kitties. The other cat you see in the picture is the stray cat I rescued and is nursing back to health. My cat didn't want to take any part of the festivities. Such a total party pooper. lol.

    Results from recheck on hearing

I never ran into the problem of being labeled as a slacker sped kid . My teachers treated me exactly like they would treat everyone else. Even sometimes forgot that I was HOH. My friends forget I am HOH too. I guess it has to do with the fact that I dont sound deaf (deaf people tend to...

That makes sense. I understand what you are saying about "maxstreamed". Feel the same way about what exactly???

    Results from recheck on hearing

Not to get down your throat about it and all, it's called mainstreamed. Yes, I was mainstreamed to hearing schools with little to no exposure to the deaf community/culture. My mother wanted it that way. She knew/felt that we (my brother and I) would recieve a better education if we were...

    Results from recheck on hearing

I agree with you whole heartedly. I honestly believe everyone should be taught sign language. I do know a little bit of sign. I taught myself how to sign when I was in preschool. There was some deaf students in my class and I got bored in class. So I sat there and learned how to sign...

    Results from recheck on hearing

lol. I do however have doubts about everything though. My emotions are just all over the place. I've already decided that if my hearing loss was permanent that I'd try and see if I could get the CI. I know I can't function very well without my hearing, since my world is predominately...
