    My morning in Audiology

Thanks OTP, I didn't realize that. Perhaps we didn't find the right tubing in my teacher's classroom. And to add on... I'm excited- I'm supposed to get my new white molds soon :D I'm not looking to hide them, I just think it would be cool, especially if they're a very bright white. :D

    Work

I know they won't fire me for deafness- they're a big employer of various people with disabilities, mostly mental from the local school/community. There is also a blind guy who works there who has come to be a friendly face. Right now, since I've just started, I don't really see anything that...

    My morning in Audiology

I know basically how to change tubing, the only thing I don't know how to do/have tools to do is to bend the tubing to fit. Once when I needed temporary tubing I went to the room and the teacher wasn't there, but a substitute who tried to help me, but we weren't sure about the bending. That's...

    HA and school

Also, A: My mom is a public school kindergarten teacher (and mom of hoh girl w. h-aids, wife of hoh husband in denial), so she specifically asks for kids coming into kindergarten hoh/d. Although they spend half their time in kindergarten in a hearing support program, the parents are happy that...

    My morning in Audiology

Haha I love all the earmold colors my audi suggests. She told me about girl and her mom who were there (girl was getting new molds made) and the mom insisted that she get a beige-y skin tone color because they were going to a wedding or something. The daughter didn't get why her mother would...

    Work

I was lucky enough to get hired at a local retail store. I did not mention my h-aids or hearing loss on app, at interview (which was more like a "Hi, sign these papers and show up for training"), nor on training day. During the interview I wore my hair down, but during training it had to be worn...

    fm and wheelchairs

Hmm. Please do post pictures. I tried some googling, and it looks like the side guard comes up at a 90 degree angle on the sides of the seat? AKA a side guard? Sorry, I know nothing about wheel chairs, nor what particular equipment you use. I have to wonder what possible designs you yourself was...

    Cool Alarm Clock

I'm looking into alarm clocks as I'm quite newly employed. Check Amazon- users are very good about reviewing the products- especially if they don't work as expected! :D

    What do you carry daily

I carry extra batts (occasionally, more often I'll remember the hearing aid CASE just in case the batteries die) :D as well as my phone and my EasyLink. If I'm at school chances are you've got the easylink in my pocket, batteries in the backpack, and, if I forgot to charge the EL the night...

I think my dad got taken grrr...

Yeah, we tried to get my dad to get his hearing tested, and he said no because he thought (most likely correctly) that they would tell him his hearing was very bad and that he needed some "special" hearing aid or something. Instead we're looking for a solid audi that won't force them on him- he...

    fm and wheelchairs

Also, to tack on to that (this is me dreaming) imagine if all bluetooth headsets came equipped with a frequency that people with hearing aids and cochlear implants could skip to. The distance would only be like 100 ft, but you'd still run into interference and such. An fm, simply built into...

    fm and wheelchairs

Hey, I'm just wondering if you came up with a solution? The only thing I can think of would be some sort of retractable with the FM attached. I don't know how well this would work, because it would pick up everything, but it might give you some directional ability. I also don't know anything...

Anybody with a Freedom not using their Personal Audio Cable,

Anybody with a Freedom not using their Personal Audio Cable,

OK, I'm gonna keep looking into this, but for now, there's one on Ebay for 5 days or so, starting at 75$. That's still pretty expensive, so as I said, I'll keep trying.

Anybody with a Freedom not using their Personal Audio Cable,

Haha thanks. No wonder :D Could anyone get a pic of the non-audeo end of the cable (that plugs in) and the plug itself?

Putting your deaf children in which schools...and why?

I would mainstream my kid (though I guess this is misleading). I currently attend school in a district that is the school with the best Deaf/Hard of Hearing services in the area, so kids are bussed in from out-of-district neighborhoods to attend this district (if they're deaf/hoh). I'm...

    interpreter problems...

Ok. I had a deaf friend who had an interp (we were in the same class, I'm hoh, only use fm/h-aids, no terp, but knew enough sign that we were grouped together for classwork) and her terp would randomly not show up, would leave early, and text. Any time the teacher started talking (if my friend...

Anybody with a Freedom not using their Personal Audio Cable,

Ok.. Alright, everyone here should feel free to call me out on this if I'm wrong, but is it possible a standard stereo cable would work? One for 8$, tops, at Target or RadioShack? 12-Inch Shielded Stereo Audio Cable - RadioShack.com I'm not a CI user, so I don't know if I'd go about...

    My morning in Audiology

My audi told me about an older woman she knows that gets pink molds :D I got white this time, blue/green tie dye last time, "black" with rainbow sparkles before that LOL. I don't know what depth mine are- but it hasn't seem to have changed?

    To the hearing

I hateeee the sound of hair on my mic. The only other thing I can't stand is the car door slamming--- but I don't know if this is because of the sound or the way it pressurizes my ears. Ugh.
