As its your sons first time around ASL he isn't understanding that ASL is a language and that the "hand motions" you are making mean anything. But keep signing! Soon he will put two and two together and realize that everything (well...mostly everything) has a sign, kids learn at their own pace :)

Hey welcome to AllDeaf! I'm hearing as well, although I havent taken any ASL classes yet (its all been self taught) I LOVE the language and like you I can't seem to be satisfied with the information. Hope to see you around the forums =)

I think what All4ASL1 means by: 2. How does a hearing person become an "Honorary Deaf Person"? I think the OP is trying to ask "Can a Hearing person be welcomed into the Deaf Community." Probably being fluent in ASL helps :)
