    How long until proficiency?

How funny, I'm just the opposite. I can understand the conversations pretty well but when I have to sign I just freeze up. :hmm: I guess 3-5 years sounds reasonable to become proficient in another language. I don't know why I thought it would be faster.

    How long until proficiency?

This is AlleyCat's post here from another thread: I just wondered how long it takes to become proficient at sign language. When I read this I was like, wow, it must take longer than I thought. I heard that after 3 semesters of ASL a person should be able to carry on a decent conversation...

Where do the Hard of Hearing fall on the Hearing -Deaf Spectrum

Really interesting thread. I had some of the same questions. My brother just told me that he had his hearing checked recently and has lost over 50% of his hearing in both ears. Would that make him HOH? :hmm:

    What to do????

I have auditory processing issues too. I decided that for me, it will probably be better to pursue a degree in Deaf Humanities or Speech Language Pathology. I'm an older student though. If I were college-aged I probably would go for it. I would have loved to be an interpreter, I really...
