    How accurate is this?

That term "residual hearing" is so subjective. I had residual hearing in my right ear. I could hear, aided, doors, cars, horns, paper tearing, and voices. I just could not comprehend what the voices were saying. I was no longer able to do more than guess one or two words out of a sentance...

Davie's law to be voted on in North Carolina

Big population..been there..done that. At one time I was feeding close to 30 stray cats. But that was years ago. Even as late as last year I was feeding about 20 but we had a rash of loose dogs..cat killing dogs that killed at least 7 adults that I know of in less than two months. I had the...

Davie's law to be voted on in North Carolina

I will look into it..I take care of about 5 strays and their new offspring. Offspring are feral, and so are two out of the five adults.

    Another Update *sigh*

Would feeling dizzy during the test give them a clue as to what is wrong? Or how to fix? If so, please feel dizzy...if not, then stay steady Lisa. Hard to know what is the best course at this stage even though he (CI surgeon) is looking for eye movement.

Davie's law to be voted on in North Carolina

Oh, how I wish I could afford to do that. I live out in the country and it is a dumping ground. The best I can do is feed them. Cats especially are my weakness (what gave me away? the 7 I have in the house?). In my mind, at least they are given love in some form. Much better than ending their...

Davie's law to be voted on in North Carolina

Because so many don't get their animals spayed or neutered in NC is why they put animals down. But, most shelters use injections to do so. There are still 32 shelters in NC that use the gas chambers. At least with injection, the animal goes to sleep peacefully, not writhing in agony, fighting...

Davie's law to be voted on in North Carolina

Not sure how many of you are from North Carolina, but if you are, and you are an animal lover, you might want to drop your representatives and governor an email telling them how this makes you feel. I already have done so. Maybe if enough human voices are heard, it will help unwanted animals not...

    Sound and Fury DVD

CC is different from subtitles. That much I do know.A subtitle file, with the extension srt, will play with the video if both files are in the same directory. Not sure how it works with power dvd. Since CC is something that is supposed to be optional, unlike subtitles when downloaded off the...

    Sound and Fury DVD

Although there are DVD players that will play CC, most of them have to be set to do so. Have you checked all the options in setup or menu? Just a thought. As for the pc, that could be just a plugin that is missing.

Profound hearing loss + hearing aid questions

My bad..since I can't use either, I don't really have knowledge of how either works. I just know how insurance works, or at least am learning.

    Interesting

I think I would go through it if faced with blindness. I understand, Lisa, that you have been blind since birth and do not know anything else. That does color your judgment. I, on the other hand, having been sighted since birth, much like being hearing since birth, would try anything viable to...

Profound hearing loss + hearing aid questions

Medicare and Medicaid are not "insurance companies". All insurance companies, as far as I know, require referrals and the "going through hoops" to get approval. There has to be no doubt in their minds that a CI is the only choice. "Hoops" include audi testing, CT scans, MRI's and in some cases...

    Another Update *sigh*

It just doesn't seem to get easier for you does it Lisa? Always something to make things misfire. I sure hope this new line of meds does the trick. On that note, if things don't improve, please do me a favor and see a regular MD? Just to rule out something not therapist/audi/ci surgeon related...

    Hearing Aids

candybrowneyes is right. Trust between you and your audi is the most important thing. I would look for one that is not affiliated with one specific brand but deals with many. That gives you more options. Mine, for example, dealt with three or four companies. He had "loaners" for almost all of...

My daughter will be undergoing CI surgery

I was super lucky with mine. I had my surgery November 7. Checked in at 6 am and checked out at noon. In between was waiting and 4 hours of surgery. Mine took so long because they found ossification in my cochlea (meningitis as a baby). I didn't have a sore throat, but my jaw hurt for days. The...

Looks like I need to call my ENT

Being on vacation next week, I would, however neither daughter nor the hubby, who is driving, are. He is able to take the day off, so I don't have to travel alone. I am just hoping the oldest will be able to get enough time off to eat lunch with us. She is student teaching High School classes.

Looks like I need to call my ENT

Leave it to my youngest to get through first try and actually speak to someone that knew what was going on. I see my audi next Thursday morning.

    t-coil and cell phone question?

The bluetooth one I can't afford right now. Will the one you gave me the link for work as well? Since I know nothing about neckloops, I just want to make sure I get the right one. Besides, now that I look, my phone isn't bluetooth compatible.
