Who has the Sonic Boom Alarm Clock?

I've been using a Sonic Boom alarm clock for many years. I highly recommend them. The portable one is very useful as well for when you are away from home. I use the vibrate only option which makes it virtually silent.

Holding "Grudges"...can you forgive or forget?

I always try to forgive, but to forget is impossible if they've really hurt me. If they haven't hurt me that much, then it's easy to forget and there's not much to forgive either.

Intensive BSL course | Level 2 in 2 weeks!!!

Phew! Just finished the two week course. It was really hard work and I found it more difficult than expected. I had to practice for 4-6 hours every night as I was slow in picking the signs up and getting fluent in using them. No resting on my laurels though - Level 2 BSL is still basic stuff. I...

    4 working days or 5 ???

I prefer to work longer days but less of them. For a period I did this in my last job, but then my manager wanted me to be in the office on all five days in case anything urgent cropped up on the 5th day. I agreed to do five days to please my manger, but regretted it soon afterwards.

    English Sign Language?

I like this idea as it can be difficult to find non-ASL stuff. As someone currently learning BSL I'd love to see a sub-section just for BSL users and those interested in BSL.

    English Sign Language?

I agree with VamPyroX - looking at the description of the forum, I do wonder whether it should actually read SEE. It's a bit like the situation here in England where we have BSL (there's no such thing as ESL - English Sign Language) and SSE (Signed Supported English).

My Song | Story of a girl stuck between the hearing and Deaf worlds

rebeccalj - I discovered that one of the ladies on my intensive BSL course appeared in this film (she was sat next to the judge in a pink sweater and black scarf) so I can say that I know a movie star :giggle:

    Confession Time 2!

I confess that I burst into tears today and sobbed for over 10 minutes. As a repressed Englishman bought up to always keep a stiff upper lip, this is a betrayal of my heritage and Anglo-Saxon breeding.

    Benefits to being Deaf/HOH

I've often said that HOH are often better listeners because they have to engage their brains, while hearies regularly switch off.

    Lip Reading

I'm doing a lip-reading course at the moment. I'm told that only about 25-30% of English sounds are visible on the lips. It's really is about how skilful you are at filling in the gaps. The more you practice and learn, the better you get at filling in the gaps. While some people may have an...

What Are You Reading Right now?

I've recently read this book along with the follow on book 'The Girl Who Played With Fire'. I'm now approaching the end of the third book 'The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest'. In fact I'm hoping to finish the book tonight. Gripping read.

:( Might not be back for awhile (long)

You must be feeling very upset and shocked. Fear is a natural response. Praying that you will experience strength in this difficult period as well.

Intensive BSL course | Level 2 in 2 weeks!!!

This is information about the intensive BSL Level 2 course I am currently doing. It's run by a fantastic Deaf-led company called Femaura. BSL Level 2 Hopefully there is a similar course near Birmingham. On my course there's a student who has travelled all the way down from the north of...
