    Interesting experience last night

haha okay, I'm done FJ you did everything perfectly and weren't rude at all, keep telling yourself that :) I suppose if you want an honest opinion, you'll take it from people who aren't your friends and who wont agree with you for the sake of agreeing with you. Best of luck in life

    Interesting experience last night

LOL, hold on hold on.... The logic is this....the 15 year old girl who's board had said "If you need anything, let us know!" comes into the room and realizes that one of the guests is hearing (and presumably fluent at ASL). So then the 'evil, rude' employee go 'around the mother's back!' and...

    Interesting experience last night

It's been 4 years since I worked in the service industry, so there are no internal grievances I'm trying to take out. And yes, we may be relying on written anecdotes but I have a pretty good idea of the situation when it went from: "She walks up to me and says "Can you ask them if they want the...

    Interesting experience last night

Here's my MAIN PROBLEM with this ENTIRE situation and MAYBE people can see where I'm coming from. If you read the original post, FJ said the employees wrote on the board "If you need anything, let us know" - this tells me a couple things, one of which THEY [the EMPLOYEES] were trying to HELP...

    Interesting experience last night

lol, so the argument went from "Don't be rude to employees who are only there to help" to "you're trying to impose things on the deaf community" I couldn't care less if she wanted to help or not, that's her prerogative, my problem lies in how she went upon handling the situation with a 15...

Is being deaf a disability or not?

Just goes to show how much we take things for granted

    Interesting experience last night

She was asking for your help, how was she suppose to know she was asking an arrogant and snide customer? So what are you saying, people in the deaf culture are rude? I mean you actually think that's a legitimate argument? That's like being told to "F off" by a bunch of German women at a park...

    Interesting experience last night

I did read her post, and her eye rolling, ie: ...started when they told her there was someone who knew sign, and FJ (with her optimistic attitude!) was apparently 'psychic' enough to know that whoever knew sign was just a lame finger-speller. Here's where "You are completely missing the...

    Interesting experience last night

It's funny, you think you're "right" because a bunch of your internet friends tell you so. What I'm telling you, as someone who doesn't know you or your personality, is you came across as a rude and snide customer. You are the worst kind of person to deal with in the customer-service...

    Interesting experience last night

Wait, what? She was asked a question, I don't care if she's been asked it a thousand times before, that doesn't give her the right to be rude about it. I mean, I use to work at Best Buy and do you know how many times I'd get asked the same, repetitive, "stupid" questions? I didn't respond to...

For those who want to practice Finger-spelling

Found a great site that I saw from that Lifeprint website (the one I'm learning asl from). Anyways the link is Dr. Bill Vicars' American Sign Language (ASL) Fingerspelling Practice Site I'm still on slow lol, but it helps ;)

    Interesting experience last night

Honestly, I read this and you come across as snide and rude. Not to mention, the whole "eye-rolling" moments in your post just solidify the fact that you're probably not a very pleasant person to be around. As opposed to laughing and rolling your eyes at the "poor 15 year old", who's clearly...

    Who is good at ASL?

How long did it take you to become "OK" at ASL?

    Sign "Marry"?

    hahahhahahaha

I finally did it... Now, I have questions LOL

Adamsmomma as you already know I'm in the same boat, also learning ASL using lifeprint. So far I'm loving it, but I think the best way to improve is to immerse myself in the deaf culture and perhaps volunteer somewhere where I could both volunteer and practice ASL. Best of luck :)

Do you think sexuality is on a sliding scale?

Oh definitely, although I am a male and never been attracted to women I know several people who identify as bisexual but usually lean towards one gender. Makes me wonder how many bisexuals (leaning towards the opposite sex) identify as heterosexual

    Where did AIDS come from?

Worldwide HIV & AIDS Statistics Commentary Under 'How people become infected with HIV' Fortunately what you believe, and what is fact, are not interchangeable. It wouldn't solve the current problem, that's why. If AIDS originated from chimpanzees, that doesn't mean the current epidemic is...
