This. Right. Here. I took ASL III at Gally almost 3 years ago and I didn't use my voice for the duration of the class. Our teacher (deaf) didn't permit it and none of us had any problem with it, whatsoever.
The teacher is lax and the OP is paying the price.
I don't much care for it. Most likely, because of my age. I think it's great for tweeners and teens. Not so much for us adults.
That's my opinion and i'm sticking to it.
Can we get a drama with deaf adults in it, please? Something starring Anthony Natale would be real nice. ;)
I'm hearing, and have been signing since 2006. I'm not a student (although i did take some sign classes in the past) and have no deaf relatives. I just love the language. :)
I've been signing so long now (5 years-- long for ME, anyway) that every blue moon, I'll start signing while I talk. I don't often notice till someone points it out. It's kinda like reflexes, lol. :giggle:
