How do you sign "rock & roll"?

I sign it as fingerspelling "R-R" with the palm facing to the person. So that it won't be confused with "restroom"

    Food Labels

Most of the food we buy have no such labels. They are called... meat... fresh produces... Ha ha ha... Do we call the store manager to give us label info for these? ;) I think the biggest word to keep in mind is moderation. Our bodies still need sodium, just not too much. Our bodies still...

    How do you feel.......

In my medical classes, the interpreters remember the picture and show a classifier version of the picture, then spell different parts if the teacher said it, then from there on, the interpreter just points to that area on his classifier picture. It really helps a lot and I appreciate it very...

    ASL over cell phones?

These telephones already exist in Europe. I know some deaf people who have these telephones where they can chat in sign language through their cell phones. In the US, the speed is too slow for us to have this technology.

    How do you feel.......

I would be hesistant on making up signs for new words just because there is no sign for it. It's sometimes a good idea to contextualise what you are talking about in ASL and to go from there. Some people think it is too much work, but that is what I always do. I prefer to think in picture, or...

    How Polite Are We?

I think I have to agree with the report about Germans being arrogant tourists. I myself am of German ancestry, and my friends always tell me that I am silly for pointing things out that they could care less about. Once I read that the advertisement for a hotel claimed that each room has a...

    How Polite Are We?

That is exactly what many Americans would say about New York City,... plenty of druggies, homeless, crimes and heavy traffic. LOL

    How Polite Are We?

Absolutely, New Yawkers are very kind. When I first visited NY, I felt silly asking people for directions on the subway, but when I asked the first woman, she stopped and smiled. I explained that I was deaf and needed to go to this station. She kindly pointed to the right direction. I thanked...

Six Sensible Tips for Long Term Weight Loss

I drink a lot of water every day. But I need to minimalise my ice cream eating habits! And to go out more to exercise. C'mon Spring! I can't wait to go hiking again. Exercising on machines are no fun.

Please help, i dont understand classifiers.

I work as a tutor for ASL at a community college, and I can say that you are not alone in being confused with what classifiers are all about! The greatest thing about classifiers, which robbielyn eloquentally said, is that you can be creative using classifiers! Most of the time there is no...

    Is there a sign?

If I had to sign that word, I would act it out instead, evoking an emotional response that it is indeed glamorous. An important sign to be used with my acting would be "fancy" but with both hands, with pursed lips blowing out and slightly lowered eyebrows.

    ?

I use the C with -, but it is not pointed finger but like open B hand. I remember once someone told me "E" then "Letter". It was funny when I saw that. Then I met some international people who also said "E" then "post". Shrugs....

Question between European and World culture

I am an American, a native of NJ living in Utah... It depends on many different things. Mostly when it is hearing friends, I just wave and shake hands. Deaf friends, I wave and hug good bye. I rarely kiss any of my American friends. French Deaf friends, I kiss them on the cheek three...

    Snow Like Sand.

In utah, sometimes when it snows, it does not look like the snow in the East. It looks like small pellets of syrofoam and feels weird to walk on. It usually happens when the weather is so dry.

    When did you know?

I have always known that I was attracted to men. I remember in Grade 5 when I had a crush on some Italian guy, but I never acted on it. I knew it was something that was not considered "normal" and just kind of stayed quiet about it. When I was 19 years old, I came out, and my family was...

    Favorite physical feature

Me, people say that my smile is a great feature. I don't know. I love men who smile a lot, and have a great personality, and flirting in a joking way with smart assed remarks. A man who snuggles a lot is a bonus in my book, though I don't like clingy men who will not allow me to do things...

    2007 Winter Deaf Olympics

USA won the gold, then USA kicked the German team's butt. Then Finland and Canada had to battle for the Silver, which Canada won. And Russia is in the third place. It was interesting to make friends with some of the German hockey team, and I will see them again when they come back next week...
