Anyone know if Ohio is deaf friendly?

Hmmm...was thinking it might be a good place to look for a job when I get out of school. I have a life long friend who has lived in Ohio for years. She's been trying to get my hubby and I to move up there closer to her for years. She lives just outside of Columbus. She said that she doesn't...

Hearing people, while they can hear, apparently don't have a tendency to actually listen.

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

Oh geez...I know EXACTLY what you mean. I got a mother who says she prays for me everyday to get my hearing back and to "git right with gawd because he'll make everything better." I'm like  "WTF?" I hate that sort of shit. I wasn't born deaf, but I had problems with my ears all my...

Anyone else here make their own wine/beer?

I dare say I would have a great deal of fun Smithtr, seeing as how THC is only soluble in fat or alcohol. LOL Damn good thing the stuff is becoming legal in a lot of places....I may just try it one of these days.:naughty: ;)

Deaf children benefit from learning sign language, says research

Sounds like things would have been a LOT better for you if you had gone to a school for the Deaf. I grew up being able to hear, and I was lucky enough that reading, language and grammar came easy to me...but when I became deaf I realized that I really needed to learn ASL. That has been a little...

Deaf children benefit from learning sign language, says research

I agree. I don't understand why these other so-called "experts" would say that learning ASL would make it harder for a child, or anyone, to learn English or any other written/spoken language.

    you know you're 30 when...

I had no problem with hitting 30, but 40...that was different. It was like everything started trying to fall apart. Hearing went at 40 and got diagnosed with Celiac Disease, had to have my gall bladder removed when I was 43, just got diagnosed with RA recently, (age 44), when I went to the...

Anyone else here make their own wine/beer?

That would be cool. I am just learning and I don't want to spend a shitload of money on supplies only to have my gluten free beer turn out to taste like shit or something else undrinkable. LOL

Anyone else here make their own wine/beer?

ooooooh, Moonshine is about the only hard liquor I like...the only other one is Absinthe. I've had some of that really good double back and twisted Kentucky Moonshine. Would love to sit me up a little gallon sized still and make some. Otherwise, I stick to making homemade wine. Used to be all...

Deaf children benefit from learning sign language, says research

I believe bilingualism is good for anyone. I tend to like dead languages...which, I realize, may not be of any use in this day and time, except maybe in a museum or as an archaeologist. LOL But, I find language fascinating....how it's developed over the ages and so on. ASL is a beautiful...
