    FOX network CC

I am watching "Bones" as I type and it has serious CC issues. It would skip CC at about every two to three sentences. Peter

    FOX network CC

I have notice it exactly as you described but only on older or rerun shows like Two and a Half Men, Everyone Loves Raymond or Seinfeld. But CC in new shows are fine like Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles, Prison Break, House and Fringe are fine. CC in commercial has problems during Prime Time...

    Sony HDTV & Caption Issues

Wow, your eyesight is not as good as I thought. Vista Media Center allows you to adjust font size but their largest fonts may not be big enough for you. I thought the font sizes were pretty big. The location of CC text does not bother me too much. They are mostly near the bottom of the screen...

    Sony HDTV & Caption Issues

I think Sony makes the best CC decoder in their TVs. I downloaded manuals from different brands and I find Sony's CC to be the best. They thought of everything. I agree with the "Muting" text covering CC texts is a bad design. I have a five year old Sony 60" LCD rear projection TV. It was one...

    Never buy DVDs from....

Why is it Netflix's fault? If it says CC or subtitles on the cover and not available, blame it on the studio, not Netflix, Amazon, Blockbuster, etc. You don't expect them to test every movie to see if CC or subtitles work. Peter

    HDTV and Closed Captioning

My Blu-ray player is a home built Home Theater PC (HTPC). I use Cyberlink PowerDVD Utra 8 software to play Blu-ray movies. One day I was configuring the software and accidentally noticed "Closed Caption", gave it a try and it worked. Other Blu-ray movies showed dimmed "Closed Caption" meaning...

    HDTV and Closed Captioning

"Alien vs Predator 2" Blu-ray disc has CC in addition to sub-titles. Like Banjo said, CC is embedded into the video signal. Also the quality of embedded CC in this movie was pretty bad. The text was very pixalated and huge. It might good for people with poor eye sights. Peter

    Slingbox & Caption questions

I have both Vista Media Center and MCE 2005. It does not matter which tuner (USB or PCI card) you use with Media Center and whether you watch or record TV programs, Closed Caption works great. It's part of Media Center, not the tuner. Peter

    HDTV and Closed Captioning

If you meant "Natural Captioning" inside the TV for High Definition programming, then this is for Over-the Air (OTA) antenna only. HDTV Closed Caption decoder inside TV will not work with external tuners like Satellite or Cable Box. If you cannot get good antenna reception, then you must enable...

    the CW channel

Closed Caption equipment at local CW station is probably down or broken. It does not matter whether CW is a major network or not. Write an e-mail to your local CW station. Local stations are usually pretty prompt on responding. I always get very quick response from my local stations. Peter

Verizon FiOS TV with HDTV BOX - poor Caption

The Feb 2009 deadline only applies to Over the Air (OTA) antenna. Cable or Satellite do not apply to Feb 2009 deadline. Peter

    the CW channel

Both Smallville and Supernatural were closed captioned in Reno, NV. Before blaming CW, it's most likely your local station. Write an e-mail to them. Peter

PS3 & Blu-ray Players: Why Closed Captioning is Necessary

That's true if the native resolution of TV is 1920 x 1080. My TV is fours years old and native resolution is 1366 x 768 which is basically 720p but it also supports 1080i (not 1080p). I cannot tell the difference if I set the output of my HTPC to 720p or 1080i because the TV will automatically...

No more CC on WB DVD "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"

That's true about limited space for DVD. But Blu-ray or HD-DVD should have enough space to add SDH options if manufacturers have enough time or money to implement them. Peter

No more CC on WB DVD "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"

Some of you do not seem to understand the author's original post. Not everyone's eyesights are alike. Some people cannot read transparent background sub-titles as well as most people. The author's simply requesting the DVD (or Blu-Ray/HD-DVD) manufacturers to provide the user the ability to...

HDMI and Component/HDTV not support captioning?

In order to use CC decoder inside the TV and see CC using Component inputs, the source (i.e. DVD player) must be in interlaced (non-progressive) mode and 480 lines or less. 480i is not high definition. Also, the CC decoder must be analog, not digital. I assumed you were watching HDTV programs...
