Please tell Blu-Ray to support Closed Caption CC

You don't have to turn off digital CC in TV. CC decoders in TV cannot decode digital CC from any external sources (DVR, DVD players, etc) using HDMI/DVI/Component cables. CC decoders in TV are for OTA antenna only. Leave CC enabled in TV in case you are still using OTA antenna. That's how I set...

Please tell Blu-Ray to support Closed Caption CC

I am aware of that. Maybe I was not clear in my previous post. What I was trying to say that there's no guarantee when the menu only says "Subtiltles" and not "SDH" when they meant it's really "SDH". And vice versa. Like I said before, good luck on trying to display CC over HDMI/DVI cable...

Please tell Blu-Ray to support Closed Caption CC

"Subtitles" are just as good as "SDH". Not all studios label "SDH" and when it only shows "Subtitles", it could also meant "SDH". I can't really tell the difference between both. Bottom line is if you are using HDMI or DVI cable between DVD/Blu-ray player and TV, forget about trying to get CC...

Please tell Blu-Ray to support Closed Caption CC

I am not sure how I can help you since you provided little information about your setup. I never once had issues with DVD or Blu-ray discs regarding to SDH. Every single one of them provided subtitles or SDH in English. There was one set of DVD disc that didn't provide subtitles or SDH in...

Please tell Blu-Ray to support Closed Caption CC

This whole concept about CC and SDH is very confusing (not necessarily complicated). Supernaturalfan, Please specify exactly what kind of TV (Manufacturer and model #), DVD or Blu-ray player. Does your TV have HDMI or DVI connector? Also, how is your Blu-ray/DVD player connected to the TV...

Disney Removes CC from Up rental release

This is simply an honest mistake. I am a software engineer (I don't work for Disney) and I know what's like to make similar mistakes like Disney did. In many companies, big or small, many things can easily slip through the cracks. Don't bash Disney too much. Peter

Help identify digital TVs with inaccessible analog inputs

I would like to clarify about this new Samsung "LED" TV. It is still an LCD TV with LED backlight. It replaces the older CCFL (Cold Cathode Florescence Tube) backlight. It's mis-leading the way Samsung markets their products. If it was a real LED panel, it would have cost a fortune (close to six...

    Blu-ray

Some DVD players may default to "progressive scan" and CC won't work with progressive scan if you are using component cables. You will have to go to DVD player's menu setup and change it to "interlace" or "non-progressive scan" mode in order to display CC with component cables. Peter

    Close Captioned DVD player

That sucks. I said "component" not composite. CC should work using component cable if you set DVD player to "interlace" or "non-progressive scan" via menu setup screen of DVD player if your player supports it. Peter

    Close Captioned DVD player

I am sorry to hear that CC in Phillips DVD player did not work as ADVERTISED. You should be able to return it if it does not work as advertised. Show the sales person the operating manual and it states that it has the option to display CC. Tell the sales person that you cannot exchange it...

no CC in old DVD using computer

This has nothing to do with operating system. Did you try enabling CC from inside Media Center Edition or PowerDVD. I have both software under Vista and they work fine. For Media Center Edition: Using mouse or remote control, scroll main screen until you see "Tasks". Scroll left and...

    Close Captioned DVD player

With proper software, CC should work. I have Power DVD Ultra 8 software and it plays CC fine even from some Blu-ray movies. I am able to see CC over DVI which is the same as HDMI. I am sure it will work with VGA or component. Software does not care which video cable is being used because the...

    Close Captioned DVD player

Typically you set DVD player component out to "interlace" or "non-progressive" mode in order for line 21 CC to work with component. I am not sure if interlaced mode will up-convert from DVD to HD quality but it's still good quality. Personally I cannot tell video quality difference between...

    Equal Access: HDMI is Inaccessible

I am not sure if line 21 is part of the law. I believe any broadcast programs whether they are from antenna, cable or satellite, CC must be accessible regardless of line 21. Today's TVs with ATSC (HDTV) tuners have built-in digital CC decoder. It only works with Over the Air (OTA) antenna...

    VCR/DVD Recorder CC Help.

Google is your friend. http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvdr3545v_37/dvdr3545v_37_dfu_aen.pdf See page 35 and 36. It's not clear whether CC is hardware or software encoded. Peter

Blu-ray discs and players with real CC

I know this is not a Blu-ray player but has anyone tried Panasonic DMR-EZ28K DVD recorder with HDMI up-conversion? It has closed caption support. I downloaded a manual from: Panasonic DMR-EZ28K Support and Service Information and found it on page 53. This looks promising. Maybe...

Blu-ray discs and players with real CC

I am not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread or other threads but I found a link related to CC and HDMI: • HDMI cables and closed captioning. What's the story? | CaptionMax At the bottom shows who to complain about this issue. I would not bother FCC since it's not their...

    HDTV and Closed Captioning

Ever since Service Pack 1 was introduced, Vista is pretty good but requires more RAM and processing power. Suggest to use at least 2 GB RAM and at least a dual core CPU. Peter

    HDTV and Closed Captioning

The description is not clear and it's dated almost 2 years ago. The likely issue is from the local TV station. I've had CC issues and contacted my local TV stations and they have fixed them almost every time. It didn't specify whether it's analog or digital CC. Also the person didn't say that CC...

    HDTV and Closed Captioning

It's Microsoft proprietary MPEG 2 format. You can find some tools to convert to MPEG but it will likely strip out CC. I have tried it and gave up. But you can burn to DVD disc from inside Media Center and watch DVD only from Media Center in order to view CC. I do not have the need to save movies...
