Hmmmm.... horrible to have to think about something like that. I don't think oralism will destroy ASL in the near future any more than SEE or cued speech would. ASL is pretty widely spoken and has off-shoot languages, even Thai Sign is supposed to be from ASL. ASL also has many many more...

:) Thanks guys! There is a "British Signed English", but it doesn't seem very prevalent. I've seen it only in a book, where it had "British Signed English "to"" and that was all that I saw or heard of it. :D

As the title says, how many people here are bilingual in sign languages? For example, anyone know ASL and BSL? Or ASL and Auslan? I know BSL, but I know a little bit of ASL (it's so hard though, maybe because I don't use it). I'd love to be bilingual. :)

If my baby (only 3 weeks left) is born deaf, I'd make sure he [they think he's a he] was Deaf ;) I wouldn't care at all, as long as my baby is born healthy, I don't care if he's born deaf. I know sign (I'm not perfect but oh well! I'm still learning), so it's okay. :D Apparently, the doctors...
