    God Issue

G-d was displeased with both Abram & Sarai, Abram for his inaction, not preventing the friction between Hagar and Sarai (he didn't want to upset either of them). - Not for concieving Yishmael with Hagar. He was displeased with Sarai for being so harshly angry with Hagar for her gloating, when...

    God Issue

Abraham, Jacob, Saul, David, Solomon and others had more than one wife. This wasn't frowned on by G-d, but wasn't the best possable situation either. Polygamy has been banned for (Ashkenazi) Jews for around 1000 years now. Hmmm, I'm not sure from reading your post (I highlighted the part in...

Yes that's the question I asked, thanks! :) Take your time, a well thought out and researched answer is always better than a quick guess or just making something up or anything. I can respect that. Thanks. :) I just thought maybe you didn't see it, or didn't want to answer it, or...

Would you conserve water now even before a drought emergency is declared?

Yes I definately conserve water. There are no restrictions on here right now (It is winter in NZ right now, so there is plenty of rain!) but I always do my part to conserve water, and electricity too, recycle etc. It's all part of the same package for me. You know: Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

    God Issue

Actually there is! Quote from: Judaism 101 Now I guess that many Christians would probably reply to that with something like "Oh but that's the old covenant, and that was with the Jews, Christians have a new covenant and the old doesn't apply". That's fine... except the only verse that...

    Lefty/Righty Sign

Hi DeafKattMom, it is ok to switch sides between left and right handed sign, just not in middle of saying something! :) I used a similar way (to that of your son's principal) of describing it to my hearing cousin who signs a little - that it's like someone is talking to her in an Irish brogue...

    Enabling-Let's discuss!

Hmmm, this is an interesting thread. I wonder if it is a cultural difference or something, but this is a different meaning for 'enabling' than I was familiar with until I read this thread. Learn something new every day! Where I come from enabling someone would be like examples: A sister...

    What this hand sign means?

This is a Tarot card picture, yeah? (Educated guessing) Um, it could be symbolic of what that card means - Hierophant is symbolic in tarot of learning and belief systems, so maybe it's meant to look like it could be religious symbolisim? Or maybe it was drawn by someone from another culture...

You Have to Be Hard of Hearing to Understand

Nancy, when that happens with me in a group of hearies - I can only lipread one at a time (I was HoH as a kid, and became Deaf as a teen) I try to decide who is the person most dominating the converstation in the group, then pay more attention to trying to understand what they say so I don't...

    Living with Parents

My mother lives with me! I am 27. Actually we found a house together when my ex moved out, and my mum didn't like it when she lived alone so we decided to save on both our money (we both work, & ofc I pay my share of the bills) and be there to support each other and share one home. It's...

    Lefty/Righty Sign

I'm a leftie. I find other deaf people don't notice any difference they understand me just fine, so do terps. The only people who have ever commented on my signing left handed are hearies that know a small ammount of sign from somewhere or have seen the NZSL dictionary here, which gives...

Whos Deaf and can still talk?

I can talk pretty well. My Mother and Grandad worked hard with me to make sure I could. I lipread quite well too, but it is hard work, so if I can't understand someone I tell them I am deaf when I ask them for what I need to understand better. Sometimes I need them to keep their head still...
