Cued Speech: A benefit to deaf and hard of hearing

Why? There should be no reason that the person can't read lips. If they are familiar with being cued to in that language, they would have been exposed to both the cues and the mouth/lip movements of that language. I wasn't claiming that if you didn't know Hebrew you would understand. I was...

Cued Speech: A benefit to deaf and hard of hearing

The way that I understood CS was that one of the ways it helps is to remove the ambiguities of lip reading. So the cuer wouldn't have to be communicating with another cuer because the deaf person would be able to read the lips of the speaking person successfully.

What does the Bible say about dinosaurs?

I still believe that animals have spirits. Nothing really, will change my opinion. I respect others for believing what they want to believe, that's their right. Just as it is my right to believe that there is a possibility that animals have spirits. I think, that as something with a spirit you...

What does the Bible say about dinosaurs?

Personally, I have a really hard time believing that animals don't have a spirit (regardless of the fact that the Bible doesn't mention it). Anyone who has had a dog or a cat knows that they each have their own personality, thoughts, feelings, they feel pain, they are happy. How could something...

    National Society for the Deaf

So what are the other "sign languages" (I'm quoting this b/c ASL is the only one I know of that is recognized as it's own language) other than ASL? Otherwise, I thought all of the others were replications of English, etc. Which is oral, which would make it oralism...??

Visual Phonics choosen over Cued Speech for speech

I am curious to look at the other avenues, if you would be so kind to provide me with some research to start with I would greatly appreciate it. For literacy, if the majority of deaf students do not respond to a phonological approach to reading, what approach do they respond well to?

What does the Bible say about dinosaurs?

Hemoglobin type "S" is the type of hemoglobin associated with the development of sickle cell anemia. In people with only one copy of the gene, when they get infected with malaria, hemoglobin type S is basically activated to the point that the cells become deformed, and are then killed. This...

Visual Phonics choosen over Cued Speech for speech

I was under the impression that CS was designed to be used as a communication tool and the increased literacy scores that have resulted from it has been an unforceen bonus. I haven't seen anything yet saying that CS is to be stricly used in an oral-only environment, nor do I believe an oral-only...

Visual Phonics choosen over Cued Speech for speech

Perhaps, but there is no research proving that it is effective either. Is there research showing that Cued Speech being used as a communication mode is harmful? I did a quick search, and found an article from the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology that suggested that Cued...

What does the Bible say about dinosaurs?

I'm not saying that he didn't reveal himself with error, I'm saying that the people who wrote it down may have made errors. The bible has been re-copied by many many people throughout the years (before photo-copiers) and since humans are subject to error, it is valid to suggest that there may...

What does the Bible say about dinosaurs?

Perhaps....I still think it's possible to be almighty and take your time.... I personally lean towards evolotion. I don't think that it's possible for dinosaurs to have been around at the same time as humans. As far as human and dinosaur remains being found in the same strata...considering...
