    Aid/FM programming?

My gut was telling me it was the boot too... we have to leave it now for the holidays as everything is closed. But I'm going to look into sending the boot away to get replaced. I'm just getting annoyed with these UP's - it has been one problem after another.

    Aid/FM programming?

Yes but is it the aid or the FM? I have no idea? The FM works with the left ear - just not the right. It makes no sense? If the fm was broken neither would work. And if it was the aid why does it work normally on mic?

    Aid/FM programming?

Okay... so we go to the dispenser again to activate the FM portion in Tyler's repaired aid... and she tells me it's already done ??? So... why would the aid not work with the FM if it's activated? The left ear works and the right ear works as well before I sent it away to get repaird...

    Aid/FM programming?

So, we got Tyler his new Naida UP hearing aid yesterday - long story short, we got the actual UP's a couple weeks ago but there was something wrong with his right one... so we sent it away to get fixed. Well it came in and we picked it up yesterday. We also had a new ear impression mold done...

Changing from Naida Super Powered to Ultra Powered

That's exactly what we just found out... Tyler's right ear - the SP is maxed out on most of the high frequencies. I was wondering that by being maxed out if there were distortion issues? Not to mention all the lost speech.

Changing from Naida Super Powered to Ultra Powered

Have you ever tried or had the Naida SP? Wonder what you're comparing the UP to?

Changing from Naida Super Powered to Ultra Powered

I know there's no change in features... but wondering what it's like to move from being maxxed out in SP and then moving to UP. Less distortion? The audi said Tyler's new aids in his right ear were not providing him with all levels of speech... which is why we are moving him to UP. Is...

Changing from Naida Super Powered to Ultra Powered

Tyler had an appointment this morning with his audi to check his new hearing aids. We got new aids (Naida Super Powered) about 3-4 weeks ago. The super powered was recommended from another audi (long story). So the new audi today told me that due to Tyler's severe loss in his right ear...

    HOH & Apraxia

I contacted his SLP and Pediatrician today... hopefully we can get some answers or atleast some therapy suggestions.

    HOH & Apraxia

Drooling... no. The SLP mentioned at the last visit that Tyler has a Motor Speech Delay. He also has issues with some other gross/fine motor skills. He just recently started to use a fork/spoon and drinking from a straw... up until a few weeks ago he would struggle with this. We're still...

    HOH & Apraxia

Exactly! I don't understand why he understands so much but yet can't repeat. He tries... but he misses so many consonents.

    HOH & Apraxia

Thanks for the info... I have contacted Tyler's SLP and suggested apraxia... I have also arranged an appointment with a pediatrician to discuss as well. What are the treatments for apraxia? Anyone know what I can do at home while waiting for appointments?

    HOH & Apraxia

Tyler has a moderate/severe loss in his left ear and a severe loss in his right ear. He's had aided tests done and they appear to show him hearing within appropriate levels including some speech. So, then why is he not getting any consonents? Also how is it that some people are aided and...

    HOH & Apraxia

I understand that... but then why is he able to listen and understand? His receptive language is only slightly delayed... he's doing awesome receptively. It's his expressive that's he's behind in... but the ASL is helping.

    HOH & Apraxia

All the the professionals involved (audiologist, SLP, etc...) believe he is amplified correctly for his hearing loss. I can understand not hearing some sounds, especially high frequency sounds... but why can't he even repeat or mimic a sound/letter with a lower or mid range frequency? We say...

    HOH & Apraxia

Tyler may fit in to one of these two... I'm thinking verbal but not sure about oral. I have contacted our SLP to ask her - I know she said he had a Motor Speech Delay - just wondering if that's the same as apraxia??? If so, I want to know what we can do at home and if we can set up more...

    HOH & Apraxia

Can anyone provide me with info on "apraxia" and even better "hoh and apraxia"? I am exploring this as a "possible" for Tyler. He currently has an OT & SLP working with him. Other than the severe speech delay - we have also noticed a delay in his gross/fine motor skills (drinking from...

    Childs behavior

Just want to start out by saying hi  I'm kind of in the same situation. I have a 3 year old son, with a moderate/severe bilateral hearing loss. He wears hearing aids. He is also horribly delayed in his speech & language. He's got much more cognitive language but little expressive...
