    Wanting to learn

Your best bet is a real class. Videos (like learning on skype) doesn't show ASL in its real 3d form. In person is the best.

I don't want to look stupid

Most deaf people who know you are learning will understand that you are "practicing on them". They respect that you are learning and will be patient, if not they will know someone for you to sign with. For your receptive skill, start watching youtube asl stories. Also for fs receptive skill use...

Who here has a signal/hearing dog?

WOW A CORGI. I have a certified service corgi too! People don't ever question him, if that is what your worried about. As long as they have their vest on, and the paper work with you at all times, your good to go. If people say anything, they usually start with "wow I didn't know such short dogs...

    Perfecting lipreading skills?

In my class we learned that only 30% of the English language is actually readable on the lips. The rest of the words are clarified by context. Also the best lip readers, today, are fluent in the language already. So if you speak english you can lip read english really well. Its creepy to turn...

    Toy Story 3

GREAT movie for his first time. There is a lot of action in it , so it will help him pay attention to the whole thing. I'm happy there are still kids that love the movies cause I asked a friend of mine if he was going to take his kids to see it (they are all under 10) and he said that they hated...

    Toy Story 3

You should use fandango or something and buy your tickets early, so you don't have to worry about that. I usually go to the early bird shows so I don't have to worry about them being sold out any way, you should try it sometime--the early bird price is totally worth it

    Toy Story 3

yeah I was really surprised too, but apparently they have been working on it for 10 years. So I would think after spending that much time perfecting it, it should be great. I think they are classics! Gosh the 90s is when they came out--feels so long ago!

Baby's reactions to their with cochlear implant

i wouldn't be waiting. I would be using ASL instead. and even if i were to get a ci, I would still use baby sign in order to help their language. Hell I would use at least baby sign with a hearing baby even.

Baby's reactions to their with cochlear implant

If they were post lingually deaf then yeah sure I'd get them one. Otherwise I'll stick with asl.

Baby's reactions to their with cochlear implant

wow I sure stirred up some crap here. haha If i ever had a deaf child I would use ASL and hearing aids, until they were old enough to decide for themselves if they wanted a ci, if they did then I would help pay for it, but not before they can make their own educated decision about it. I think...
