Obama nominates Sotomayor to Supreme Court

perhaps to you. Couldn't agree more. There would have to be some very stringent guidelines on medical use marijuana and other substances. Again, there are many substances that would be beneficial if they were not so widely abused. How would you regulate that industry, Doug? I don't know...

Obama nominates Sotomayor to Supreme Court

Actually it was the liberal media that started creating quotes to attribute to Limbaugh and Hannity. Although they each have their own opinions, and I haven't heard them from them, I'd say that what is quoted in the MSM is probably at least out of absolute context and at worst created. Much...

Obama nominates Sotomayor to Supreme Court

The dregs of society have prevented medical use legalization for many substances that could be beneficial. If the abusers could be cut out of the picture I could see it happening.

Obama says health care this year — or never

One of the big problems with those who lament that they are uninsured or underinsured is that they (many not all ) are unwilling to put forth the effort to obtain the free, reduced fee, sliding scale services offered. In my area alone we have several free stores, free clinic, reduced/sliding...

Obama nominates Sotomayor to Supreme Court

No one conservative, however that card has been thrown by Obama and Sotomayor already. As during the last election it was thrown out there by Obama who stated that it shouldn't matter - but the very act of throwing it proves it does and is still a useful chip. We will be replacing one liberal...

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

Thanks for clearing that up Etoile. I couldn't imagine that big of a difference but then Shel pointed out some things I was not aware of and how they happen on the west coast so I wasn't sure. Glad that those in Texas can take their placard everywhere with them.

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

I was re-reading this whole thread, so as not to duplicate any suggestions again, Wow! I did not know that Texas does that with Placards. Here in Ohio the placard belongs to and with the person regardless of what vehicle they are driving or riding in. I do remember the frustration of...

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

I like the way you put that Reba. Perhaps it needs to be put in the simplest terms possible for the doctor's and their office people to understand

    Name sign question

It is a matter of cultural propriety. It is improper and rude for a hearing person to choose their own sign name. I sign name is bestowed by a D/deaf person. Maybe times have changed elsewhere but It is still thought to be improper, rude, and even arrogant where I am from.

    SSSD parents drop suit

Well, I hate it that she is giving up teaching, that is a calling and something not everyone is cut out for. OTOH, I'd be thrilled to see more pro-D/deaf people in VR Services. I won't repeat it but you remember what my husband went through just to get VRS assist on HA's. Ridiculous, and the...

    Success for deaf community

I believe the adult person should have the choice and make their choice( No devices, HA's, or CI) and that the Insurance Companies should cover equally HA's or CI's

    Question

The history of successful D/deaf people has long been ignored. The mainstream does not do well at reporting any history thoroughly or accurately, especially D/deaf history.

Guess the red flags just went up. There have been so many that you all have pinned down from the first post/last post as possible posers that I have started looking with a more critical eye as well.

No one in Texas wants to hire an interpreter!

Agreed. No one should ever expect a family member to interpret for another family member. I would never interpret for Randy. I have been to appointments with him and helped clarify(SSP/SODA) but never acted as interpreter. That is an issue everywhere. Physicians, Government, and so on.

Wow, this topic had degenerated. Wasn't the original question whether officers have to use lights and sirens everytime they are going to a higher priority call? answer: No or maybe I am thinking of another thread.
