    In the cold states...

I set it at 60 this morning, and he remarked on how warm it was, so I get a new thermostat tomorrow. YEAY! Mu neighbors have been complaining about the new maintenance people. Now I will have something to say about how good they can be.

Did you know that people who suffer hearing loss are more prone to developing dementia?

OH, Reba!! Now I understand the boxing gloves. :( At least you have :type:. This morning I woke up to 18-hour-old coffee. Yesterday at Mass, my walking-stick started sliding off the pew in front. I reflexively caught it, quickly as a rattlesnake. I was amazed! The difference between my...

Did you know that people who suffer hearing loss are more prone to developing dementia?

I attended a sign language class with a couple, he was in a mental slide. He couldn't learn new stuff. That is a pervasive symptom of Alzheimer's. She was very disappointed. I suspect CODA's with Alzheimer's could function better for longer, because they have alternative paths to...

LOL. Well-tested, no need to cheat. 130 at my best or close. These days, with gabapentin and exhaustion from my back problems, more like 90 at times.

    Toddler left in corn maze!

Not to mention the Utahans who stay there working for the church for a while and go back home. We let them do their thing while they do their thing. The Lincoln-Hay truce. So long as they observe their part, we observe ours. Otherwise, the truce is toast.

    Toddler left in corn maze!

Nope. Was raised five miles south of Nauvoo. Also ended up in a Mormon-dominated town in SW Kansas. That was bad enough, but then add it to some other things. They don't like me because of my family history. Their explanations for the problem of pain are enough to tell everyone to run in...

    Toddler left in corn maze!

Sorry, the lack of logic in the alcohol sentence of your previous post didn't seem to be sarcasm. They do tend to use/abuse meds to substitute for alcohol. I lived among them for years, and am now grateful that the town I live in now is primarily Catholic, Lutheran, and unchurched. You...

    Toddler left in corn maze!

The sentence I quoted came directly from the article. I went to another board and checked out the talk about it, and found a thread on the article. The first two posters thought polyg. Nearly all the others talked about too many children. Only one suggested alcohol, and if I remember right...

Learning to lip read and wanting to make new friends

Remember to keep up with vision changes. I had neglected that, and it made lipreading more difficult, especially from a distance.

    Should i get hearing aids

Conductive loss is more easily reversed. See a doctor before you make the investment. HA's for conductive loss are much less expensive and easier to get, if that is what you need.

Staying relaxed in noisy environments being hoh or deaf. .

I stay focused on the speaker who is the most important, and do a lot of lipreading. Yesterday I had lunch with a cousin I hadn't seen for many many years. I chose a restaurant that was guaranteed to be quiet. One of our subjects was family history, I am sure the Asian waitresses caught on to...

    Online sign dictionaries

Years ago people notice that I gesture a lot when I talk. I have poor coordination, especially when I am anxious and/or tired, and the gestures help a lot when this bothers me. Signers have noticed that my gestures are not sign, although I regularly use the sign for "telephone". The other...

    Cochlear implant debate

Probably why I ought to get to work on it. I gesture a lot when emotions get to me, I need to start gesturing more in sign, even though it may not be accurate. Oral fluency is sometimes a problem for me.
