I was speaking mostly about hearing people with no impending hearing loss and no connection to the deaf community (or to anyone with a serious hearing loss, for that matter). You don't fit that description, of course.

No doubt life is hard for deaf people. That reality will likely become painfully real for me in the next few years. I've never had the occasion to communicate with a deaf person, but you have to interact with a multitude of hearing people every day. It's frustrating in a way I can't yet imagine...
