    Gallaudet University's Hearing Undergraduate program

Well, I can't tell you exactly what classes are like (ask me in a few months!), but I might be able to help with the other things. Any majors are open to hearing students, technically. The idea behind the HUG program was to let in hearing students who wanted to work in a deaf-related field...

    Severe Depression

Agreed. It's not as if every person who is depressed thinks or does the exact same things. Some eat constantly, some don't eat at all. Some sleep all day, some barely get any sleep. The list goes on. But it's impossible to put every depressed person in one category.

    Gallaudet University's Hearing Undergraduate program

I'm entering this fall as a HUG, and I absolutely cannot wait! I can't answer several of your questions, obviously, since I'm not there yet. However, I have been to the campus for visits more than a handful of times, and I have quite a few friends who go there/have gone there, so I can tell...

ASL Video Clip about the Internet video clips Without Subtitles

Hooray, someone understands! I've been trying to explain this concept to people for years, but they never seem to get it. Then again, often it's because they're deaf educators and don't want to accept the possibility that their students struggles are due in part to their own inept signing...

    gallaudet tradition...

When I was at Gally during open house in February the guy giving us the tour made it abundantly clear that it was "not a school sponsored event." He must have told the parents 10 times that the school did not support or encourage the event because it's viewed as hazing. I personally don't...

Gallaudet's Fernandes wants all state deaf schools closed down, protesters say

Ugh, that's everywhere, and it annoys me. People hear something ridiculous sounding, whether it's about a person or an event, and spread it around without confirming it. Personally, I've no problem going straight to the source to get the truth, but I guess that's too hard for people. As for...

    Books about deafness & CI

Methinks it's part of Gallaudet's plan to turn bright students against each other and start a civil war of sorts on campus.

    Books about deafness & CI

*Removed my last comment because it sounded a bit snippy* This is at least the 2nd year that HP students have read two books, in addition to the one required for all new students. Last year it was The Created Selfby Robert Weber and The Road to Wellville by T.C. Boyle

    Hello! I'm Lance from Colorado

Hello and welcome! I live up in Laramie, but I go down to Boulder almost every weekend 'cuz that's where the cool kids hang. ;)

    Books about deafness & CI

We're reading two books this year, actually. Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamonds , a book which attempts to compared historical developments in a variety of countries over the last 15,000 years. Quite a task, if you ask me. The other one is, as previously mentioned, Rebuilt by Michael...

One simple question about ASL morphology

There are reasons why I shouldn't post when sleep-deprived. :)

    Books about deafness & CI

Agreed. Incredibly informative and unbiased. This came as a bit of a surprise to me: It's required reading for all Honors Program students at Gallaudet this fall.

One simple question about ASL morphology

Me_punctured is deaf. :) Though I do realize you might have mean interpret as in translate, not necessarily as "to interpret" as an interpreter would do. It's early and I'm tired. Forgive me. :)

Gallaudet's Fernandes wants all state deaf schools closed down, protesters say

I'd like to point out that many of the students who initially expressed concerns regarding Fernandes' ability to run the University prior to her selection were incredibly bright students. These students were then the ones who organized the protests and rallies, and have continued efforts...

    Books about deafness & CI

Sorry if there are any repeats... * Inside Deaf Culture by Carol Padden and Tom Humphries * Deaf Like Me by Thomas and James Spradley * Forbidden Signs by Douglas Baynton I have a lot more, but I'm not feeling terribly ambitious right now. :)

d/hh with people with multiple disabilities

No, though she wasn't able to walk very steadily, and usually had to hold onto her mom, dad or whomever else happened to be nearby.

    Gallaudet Protests

I'm aware it doesn't say that. However, those are the proposed requirements for a deaf president who should, by default, be like his/her students.

d/hh with people with multiple disabilities

I have met some people, but not many. At our most recent hockey camp (AHIHA) we did have a deaf girl who had CP. I've also known a couple of deaf-blind people, mostly a result of Ushers. As for those who are deaf and have psychological disabilities... Those numbers are numerous.

    Gallaudet Protests

So... Does this mean that all deaf people who don't have a deaf spouse, don't use "proper" ASL and have implants should be kicked out of Gallaudet?
