    deaf newb

Wow, that must have been really hard...I can't even imagine. Keep us updated on your journey with CI! It's always interesting to hear what happens with that. I personally knew 2 women who had gotten it a few years ago and it worked out nicely for them. One was latened-deafened, the other born...

    Hello

Hey, welcome. That's really cool! I once fostered a deaf dog, it was definitely interesting. I would always forget he was deaf, and he'd run out into the yard--I'd call after him, then feel like an idiot when he didn't respond lol. Great dog. How/where are you learning sign?

    University of Michigan Student!

My friends aren't interested unfortunately, but to each their own. I'm the worst fingerspeller (and fingerspelling reader) on the planet...but I pick up and remember signs pretty easily. I also had a deaf client, and at the time I had stopped studying entirely and couldn't communicate with her...

    quick question

Anij, yes, that is exactly what I mean. I forgot about regionalism...but context, can you give me a small example of when I could use it? I mean, to me, it just seems easier to sign "hungry *?*" if you're busy or really tired, but I don't want to take the lazy/incorrect/easier way either. I...

    quick question

Several times I've seen the wiggling index finger to mean a question mark or "?" at the end of a question. Is this more SEE? or outdated? Only used in certain situations? Or completely optional? like instead of signing "you hungry*facial expression*" you could just sign "hungry *?*" I don't...

ASL is seeping into my brain it seems.

I had a similar situation. My friend was talking to me, and I was drinking something. I so badly wanted to fingerspell my reply because my mouth was busy, but managed to stop myself, because I realized she wouldn't understand.

    Students Looking for ASL buddies

I haven't posted here in a while. I kinda forgot it existed, when I got busy with work and stuff. So, yeah, now that I'm unemployed again I have all the free time in the world. I'm new to signing, teaching myself via books and lifeprint/aslpro. When I say new I mean new, I know maybe 10 signs...

    Guess who is back

I'm not concerned with the points or anything. I can't remember the e-mail address or password I used, so it's really not a big deal. I don't consider it a double account, but if it's a real big deal they can just ban this account, I guess.

    Students Looking for ASL buddies

Finally got into my Skype account. Still trying to remember what e-mail and PW I used on here before...ugh. Anyway, if anyone wants to chat feel free to add me onto Skype. I'm a slow learner, still having a bit of trouble with the alphabet, but eager to learn and chat. Skype: itscayhooray

    Guess who is back

I've seen plenty of other people do it. But okay. I also have no idea what e-mail I was using on it, so I figured I'd just make a new one.

    Students Looking for ASL buddies

My area STILL does not offer an ASL class, but I'm looking, and the lady said they would let me know if they did come spring. I live in Michigan. I am 21, and looking for someone who wouldn't mind teaching me the basics. I have Skype, MSN, mic and webcam. I need someone patient lol. I am almost...
