That sounds like the ideal program. Is there any program like that? Maybe even as a model for Miss Kat's school.

    Residual Hearing after CI

loud sounds. I can hear the thunder and sometimes banging noise. When my daughter talks to me, I can hear some of the sounds. But my trade off is not as much tinnutis as I have had. Finally in 30+ years, I can sleep in peace.

    Residual Hearing after CI

I can still hear some sounds without my CIs, but my residual hearing is not completely the same. My left ear lost the most. Since I had both ear done, I can't rely on the other ear. Another concern is auditory hallucinations. I can talk to a person and in my mind I can hear the way there voice...

    IEP help

Out of compliance, oh....a big issue there. I know you are on top of everything, but be careful that they don't try to rush through the IEP because of it. (Tennessee allowed <10% of IEP to be out of compliance. big struggle with it) It is difficult to find an "ideal" program, but what would...

    IEP help

What would be the second type of placement? I do agree that the AVT teacher should have knowledge of working with CI students. As a special education teacher, I write a lot of IEP throughout the year. I am limited by what my system allows. It can be very frustrating to educators as well as...

okay I looked it up. I thought my right ear was worst, but both ears where about the same. Right at 100 db in both ears. I did not have any sound after 100 hz. With hearing aids I was able to hear around 70hz across the line. With my bilateral CIs, I hear around the 25 to 30 db range.

Sosie, I'm bilateral Advanced Bionics. I had both ears done July 2007. When I tested 7 years ago, I was not a candiate because of too much speech recognition. After a few years, my hearing decreased to finally I was a candiate. I'm not sure of my overall degree of loss. I will have to look...

    IEP help

When is the meeting? What have you decided? Remember she has only had her CI for a month and not sure in which direction she will lean. Remember if you don't agree with the IEP you must make a note of that on the IEP. If you don't sign it, it goes into effect even without your signature.

    wouldn't it be cool....??

I use the regular ear buds with my CIs. I had to set my ipod a little higher volume, but it works well. I hate the direct cable, too many cables coming off me. What about a Y cable to connect the hearing aid and CI?

Something I'd like to share with you

I'm sorry you are feeling this way. I have been depressed over my hearing and understand that. What is your number one concern - your CI, not having any deaf or HOH friends, or depression? You have to tackle the most important concern first. I suggest you discuss your mapping with your audie and...

Can someone who is severely deaf talk normally?

Before I had my cochlear implant surgery, I tend to miss some sounds like th, sh, z, s. Mostly at the ends of words. I also tend to speak either too loud or too low at times. I noticed it more than most people did. My family was very honest with me about it. It didn't matter to them. After...

    Ultimate benefit of CI

I am across the board at 25 -30 db. I can hear the sounds, but there are times I don't understand them. That is why I do auditory therapy to teach my brain to understand what I am hearing. Mapping is for comfort in sound. You still have to do therapy to understand it.

Question about Music for CI Users

Hear Again, Since giving up music around 20 years ago at 18, I cherish the sounds from the CI. I really have not paid attention to the quality of the bass or discrimation of sound at different speeds. I do know that music sounds beyond anything I ever remember with hearing aids. I don't...
