    Adjustment to late onset deafness

I see. Yes. I will do that. I have a feeling my husband will find it just as hard, if not harder, to go from HOH to deaf. But, he'll be supportive, I know. It just didn't really occur to me that I could be considered deaf yet...I had assumed that it was only when you couldn't hear anything or...

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

You are right, of course. I didn't really suppose that my fears about motherhood were particular to me. I just get so worried. *Smiles* Thank you so much for asking. I am, let us say, more resigned today. Yesterday was bad because I found out that I won't be able to get the new hearing aids I...

What do you NOT look for in a relationship?

*Bursts into laughter* WELL. That settles that for me. My sister and I have good teeth...she looks at all potential boyfriends in the mouth first, as it were...but, as for me, I didn't pay much attention when I fell in love. Can't say his teeth are the greatest but the rest of him is pretty dang...

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

I see what you mean...I begin to think that I would be less prone to depression, on the whole, if I could just be comfortable with saying and feeling 'I am deaf.' The HOH thing is more comfortable on one hand, but on the other, I have a feeling I'm deluding myself...hence the great tramua in not...

What do you NOT look for in a relationship?

*Chuckles* And I thought my sis was the only one like that. Guess not.

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

CBE's post on considering herself deaf set me thinking: at what point is one supposed to consider themselves deaf? When they can't hear anything at all anymore, or before that? I can't understand the spoken word anymore, but I can hear very loud noises. Does that mean I'm still HOH...or what...

Parents Sentenced In Son's Starvation Death

Poor baby. This is just beyond comprehenson or meaning. They were both definately to blame! How could that man sit there and let this happen to this poor innocent? I'm not even going to talk about the mother.

I want to do something more with my life

*Smiles* You are right. I know it. And I will do something about it, in fact, I am looking up ways to get started with my stuff as the moment. You are a precious person Moon-child! Not everyone can touch lives in such a way!

    No New Hearing Aids

I have been, for the last month or so, laboring under the delusion that I was to get new hearing aids. The ones I have are no longer working for me, and I badly need new hearing aids of the 'behind-the-ear' type. I had applied to a program here in KY that helps provide hearing aids to people...

The Lounge thread: Whatever you feel like......... Anything goes! Part XIV

Sounds like fun. Lots of fun. I'll probably go fishing this summer, but I can't say much more then that. still, I like to fish. (Don't really like to eat said fish, however, and generally put them back, making the whole thing a little strange but somehow relaxing). Oh, I'm hoping to coax my...

I want to do something more with my life

Thank you Moon-child. You are very wise, and very kind, and very beautiful, inside and out. It helps so much to be believed in. I think you are right...that waiting to find out if I any good will never make me any better is true. I will find the strength to venture forth...waiting has done so...

    What are you thinking about?

*Big hugs to Botts* Thank you sooooo much. I'll look into that right away. I get so optimistic about things, you know. It just absolutely didn't occur to me that I wouldn't qualify. I get so excited, and that's great, but it also means you hit the ground pretty hard when it doesn't work out.

    What are you thinking about?

I am thinking I wish I had never heard of anoxeria, and wish I'd never gotten into that whole habit. I am also thinking I don't know what I am going to do next about hearing aids because program I was hoping would help me get the behind the ear hearing aids I need so badly denied my application...

I want to do something more with my life

I know what you mean. My problem precisely. I want to do it though! I really do. I just wish I knew if I were good enough to be even thinking such things.

I want to do something more with my life

I have a baby, but I hope I can go back to school and I hope I can open a dog/horse therapy center for kids and adults that need emotional healing. That is my goal...well, that and become a professional writer. *Screws up face* Not very ambitious, am I?

    What are you thinking about?

Ah, poor shel! *Squeezes Shel tightly* All I can say is that I sympathize and I truly believing things will get better. They are bound to sometime, aren't they?

    Place you want to visit?

Oh! I was raised in New York (not the city, though...too much for me, that). I'd love to go to Romania (my ancestors are strongly Romanian), Scotland (we have some Scottish blood too), England (of course), and the bottom of the ocean...living, of course. If I could see places that aren't...
