    Interpreter Cert online classes?

Have fun with the program!!! I'm so glad you decided to do it in person. Doing it online is OK, but an interpreter program is invaluable in person.

    DUI = Acceptable?

I think DUI's are despicable. Most people get away with it. Ugh. I'm a goody two shoes, but c'mon...

    Deaf professor teaches English

I don't want to speak FOR Brenda or anything, for I am in no place to do that just because I happen to know her. I put her name into "Search", TheWriteAlex, and found several threads with news articles from that controversy. I think some of the news is distorted, but that is a issue from the...

    Deaf Boyfriend versus Hearing Boyfriend...

To be fair most of the gay guys I've met blab too. They were hearing :hmm:

    Deaf professor teaches English

She does not use ASL as a main form of communication because her voice is pretty clear- although I wouldn't rely on my testimony of it, I am deaf after all:giggle:! Also, her children are hearing and her family are hearing as well. OSU is not a deaf school like Gallaudet so I'm sure she uses it...

    Deaf professor teaches English

I thought I would say that I have had Dr. Brueggemann as a professor myself.. simply amazing woman. She has inspired me in so many ways! I feel much more confident in pursuing my teaching degree now. Simply amazing professor!!

    Second Life

Second Life is basically an online Sims. Real people go there to do real-life things- people actually make money on it, but by no means do you have to do that. I go there to roleplay, mostly. CJB- I have a friend who is blind and plays on Second Life. She says it's difficult, but invaluable...

    Last Movie You Watched?

I recently saw Pocahontas 2- I was bored, ok?! Haha. I also watched "Becoming Jane", an excellent movie if you're a literature lover.

Are Most Deaf In the USA On SSI? I don't think that is true.

Thank you for the link- it is very intriguing to learn more about these issues. I still believe it is a valuable resource, however dependency is an issue needing to be dealt with.

    TV shows with Closed Captioning

Oh my gosh!! I am so glad I stumbled onto this. I was always jealous when people watch youtube-- all three of my favorite shows (Grey's, Private PRactice, and The Simpsons) are CC'ed on Hulu.. YESSS!!!

    Deaf Boyfriend versus Hearing Boyfriend...

I'm deaf and was mainstreamed my whole life. I never even considered the idea of "searching" for a deaf boyfriend- I have had all hearing boyfriends. I have been wanting to date a deaf person because I think we can relate on issues, and communication would be so much easier. My last boyfriend...

    Have you ever...

To respond to the question- there have been several occasions, but one hit me the hardest. When I was 16 I worked at Teddy Crafters, and was so accepted among the staff I didn't feel deaf at all. When I found out that a position for Key Holder was open and they said they needed someone who had...

    Deaf ID Cards

This reminds me of the "DEAF CHILDREN ZONE" sign I see around my grandma's. I find it offensive because it is saying that the parents are bad parents... if they allow their deaf children to run around in the streets... LOL :P

    Group Criticizes Helen Keller Casting

I for one think Abigail Breslin is a good casting choice. I'm biased toward her, however! I will admit that it would be nice to see a deaf/blind/deafblind person as the role, but it can't always be that way. Kate Winslet, for example, plays several nationalities when she's really British. *shrug*

Hello, yet another new one on board!

How wonderful to meet a teacher for the deaf! I have two quarters left of my undergraduate (English major here!) and then I'm off to grad school. Looks like I'll be going to OSU grad school but we'll see.
