    Neil Diamond, a child molester?

I'm a huge Neil Diamond fan and I can't believe that this thread even exists. It's total BS. Some people just have too much time on their hands. Get a life, huh?

    Deaf people and guitars.

Ok Rockdrummer, I'll see what I can do as far as learning to lay down tracks and getting the appropriate software. You lost me after "24 tracks....." but I'll try to figure out some way to do it. Hopefully one day we can meet at an All Deaf Convention or something like that and see...

    Deaf people and guitars.

Hey Rockdrummer, I've been playing guitar for a little more than 3 years and bass for about 8 months. I'm still playing cover songs and developing my chops. I could probably write some original music but I haven't tried to do that yet. I'm not computer savvy so I have no idea how to...

    Deaf people and guitars.

DeafBoyOne, thanks for your reply and for the info on your basses. I will play the one I have now, an Aria GB35, for another year or so and then upgrade to a Fender. About Evelyn Glennie....I've seen her website and have sent a couple emails which were answered by her staff. I doubt I...

    from a hear-er

Great post, Allykat!!:welcome: Deaf people do come in all sizes and flavors and I am endlessly amused by the reactions I get when hearing people realize that I can speak and actually think for myself!! And imagine their reaction when they find out that I am also a musician! :eek3: If I...

    English in deaf schools

I think you have already made a difference. Beginning with your son, then the next child whose path crosses yours, and then the next one and so on. The journey itself is the destination. I wish you all the best.

    English in deaf schools

I agree. If the parents themselves have poor reading and writing skills to begin with then how can they understand an IEP much less know what it is they're signing? So it's an even bigger uphill battle for the kid from there. Poor kids. It is very frustrating to sit on the sidelines and see an...

    English in deaf schools

Yes, and parental involvement also has an impact on the kid's development, too. The less parental involvement in the development of reading, writing and communication skills, the harder it will be for the kids. The schools can't do it all. Whether it's a hearing school or deaf school makes no...

    Deaf people and guitars.

DeafboyOne, is your Fender bass a Jazz or Precision Bass? I've been thinking about getting a Fender Jazz Bass but not sure whether to get the American Series or the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. I've looked at the Discussion Forums on the Fender website. Your opinion?

How many of us are Musicians?

That, my friend, is the biggest problem of all. Not to mention all the equipment we would have to lug with us. It would be great if someone could coordinate all that and set up a sound system with amps, speakers, lights, etc. That would be awesome but for now it will remain......a dream.

Cool!! The more the better! I would like to meet your son one day and talk shop. Does he play on a regular basis or just for fun?

I hope and pray that you are right, my friend.

Gas is going to be 90 cents / gal again next year

Iraq may be stabilizing but I don't think the oil companies will ever cut gas prices that low ever again. They will lose too much of their precious profits if they do that. No one will be more surprised than me if it actually happens.

    Deaf people and guitars.

Welcome DeafboyOne! It's nice to know there are quite a few of us hearing impaired musicians out there. I read your post on the other thread about deaf musicians. I've also read a lot about Evelyn Glennie, the deaf British percussionist. I wonder if you know her because I would love to perform...

How many of us are Musicians?

I'm genetically hearing impaired with a large number of hearing impaired family members. I tried to learn to play the guitar as a teenager but without hearing aids it was almost impossible. I gave up after 2 weeks. So.... fast forward 25 years later when I got digital hearing aids and was...

What is wrong with some people?

Ain't it ironic that the most ignorant people are the ones who don't think they are. Like you, I am constantly amazed at the rudeness of some people. Hopefully, in our lifetime, things can change. All we can do is try our best to educate those who are ignorant.

Yeah, I couldn't resist. :giggle: I was just having a little fun with him. Nobody's perfect. :fingersx:
