It is the Random Question Game.... :):):):)

Two, currently. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did you achieve your goal? If not, why not?

Which Choices of Communication should Hearing parents use for their implanted child?

I'll admit I'm VERY behind the curve when it comes to knowledge about cochlear implantation surgery... but isn't a hole drilled into the mastoid bone of the skull? Thus, doesn't that mean that a hole IS drilled into the skull? Plus, in this article: Cochlear Implant Surgery, they...

Which Choices of Communication should Hearing parents use for their implanted child?

I understand what you're saying, I do... my comment was more tongue-in-cheek than anything else... BUT... I don't see anything wrong with making use of advanced literacy/vocabulary. If anything, it helps people learn words they didn't already know. That's how *I've* learned words growing up...

Which Choices of Communication should Hearing parents use for their implanted child?

That might be true, but the vast majority of folks posting here should be able to find Dictionary.com. :)

Risk of Bacterial Meningitis and Death in Children with Cochlear Implants

You guys are going in circles with your arguments, and many of you are resorting to petty personal attacks, which really don't serve you or your arguments well at all. I think we all might be able to agree that ALL parents (or, at least all parents here) want what is best for their children...

    SCARY stuff, Reba!

    Sex-arrest senator to finish term

Kindasorta... except that in the decision handed down by the judge (why I read all 27 pages, I couldn't tell you), he made reference to the fact several times (excerpting from previous court decisions) that a person can expect a reasonable amount of privacy, even at the urinals! So... it's a...

Matthew Shepard Act is getting closer!

Who can say? We won't know until/unless the legislation is enacted. Just as with any laws (and their enforcement), I'm sure there will be SOME folks who continue to commit crimes/atrocities, regardless of the laws of the land. Based on your earlier post, it's clear that you don't think that...

Matthew Shepard Act is getting closer!

Yes, and no. Yes, gays and lesbians are able to make decisions for themselves (even when many of those decisions - gay marriage, adoption, etc. - are stymied, but that's a whole different topic) and can physically defend themselves (although 1-2 defenseless gay guys getting beat on by groups of...

Don't stop talking, laughing in class

:giggle: Just an update: They were TOTALLY silent on Tuesday, not a peep, not a glare, nothing. Now if it'd just continue for the rest of the semester, I'd be oh-so-happy.

Matthew Shepard Act is getting closer!

I've struggled with this one, I've got to tell you. In theory, I'm actually in agreement with you, Reba. If the laws that we had on the books already were enforced properly, then there might not be a need for this kind of legislation. That said, we DO already have laws on the books right...

Don't stop talking, laughing in class

The ASL class that I'm taking this semester has a few young girls (I say young, because they're 18-20, and I'm 34) that like to chat away in a corner of the room. This has been going on since the beginning of the semester, and there have been times when our teacher (who is Deaf) has caught...

    ASL and dialects ?

There's a really neat book out there called What's Your Sign for Pizza: An Introduction to Variation in American Sign Language, that you might be interested to see if you can get your hands on. From Amazon.com's book review: This introductory text celebrates another dimension of diversity...

Transgender AD from Italy (Really cool!)

For me, I saw the commercial as making a statement on how things aren't always what you expect. It's an interesting premise... that the woman-dressed-as-a-man sees someone who s/he thinks is an attractive woman, pursues "her", only to find out that the object of her attraction isn't quite...

    TYPE the story.

Most news articles are copyrighted, though... so I'm not sure of the legalities of copying and pasting the entire text that way, without obtaining permission to do so. That's one of the reasons why I usually opt to just include the link.
