Sometimes they just can't tell from a resume. I know that there were a lot of people at that Open House that had more teaching years than I did, and some even spoke Spanish fluently (which helps in this 'hood) but somehow I made it to that stage AND the final cut! *cross fingers*...

We had 700 applicants for 6 slots at this school. 150 of us got the group interview. About 20 made it to the final round of interviews. MOST of the people wanted the social studies position (my slot). Your odds are better than mine! Oooh I wish you luck! And if you don't get it, it's good...

Some places report their statistics, so it may not be a bad thing. If you never wrote down DEAF or WHITE or HISPANIC or whatever, then it's harder for a company's HR or outside org to determine if they're being potentially discriminatory...kinda sucks both ways. :(

That is complete poppycock. I can't go to Jordan or Saudi Arabia. Lebanon, Egypt, and a few other Arab countries are off limits. Iran, which is not Arab but Muslim, is a no no. Israel didn't send IDF forces into Afghanistan or Iraq and had to provide other services instead as the citizens...
