Wirelessly posted Just had my first study group with classmates today. It made such a HUGE difference in learning. A suggestion, if you have a friend taking a course, see if you can attend a study group with them. We allowed that today & she was asking us what we reviewed & got to see & even...

    Signed Songs

Wirelessly posted This is a great thread for me. Before I took classes I spent a lot of time trying to learn some songs with youtube & asl dictionaries. Very difficult! And probably not the best idea lol! One positive note, i used many signs over & over, allowing me to simply learn a few...

    Students

I can totally see why you mentioned it. And while I agree with you on most of it, were 'all' not here to practice. My reasoning for joining was to start immersing myself into the deaf community. I live in a small town, and have had very little experience with deaf culture. Through school & co...

I'm trying to gloss this song. ASL users, am I doing this right?

Wirelessly posted I spent about 3months watching song videos & using them as sort of a resource because i had Nobody to practice with. But now that im in classes, I can see how different signs are. It did help a little but I cant say its a super learning tool when learning solo.

    An ASL question...

Wirelessly posted The class is 3hrs, you are correct, we spend quite a bit of it in pairs & groups signing with each other. Five of us will be forming a study group for extra practice since class is only once a week. It feels like the glossing is more of an at home study/assigment

    An ASL question...

Wirelessly posted I believe the biggest road block im having is translating written English into written ASL at this time. Its very new to me, i re-wrote my assignment about 8x before i submitted it. I still feel unsure about it, lol! But after time & willing to learn & do the work Im hoping...

    An ASL question...

Wirelessly posted I have American Sign Language phrase book 3rd edition. I am hearing, a student first year & ive found it to be helpful with some grammar structure. The pictures are cartoon'ish, but the expressions are not bad & the teachings are very close to what I am learning in class so...
