Ive seen it both ways. Many pre-recorded shows have delays, spelling or gramatical errors, or signifigant differences from the spoken words. I dont know the cause for it.

I worked with behaviorally challenged kids in the schools and we had many in harnesses and one that could still get out so we eventually had to have an aide on the bus with him.

I think it depends on the relationship between your friend and his ex-wife. If they are friendly and get along it might be okay. But I would be very, very cautious.
