    Translating english to ASL

you said true asl. This can't be done by writing it in asl grammar as facial expressions are included in the grammar. there are classifiers. it would be difficult to gloss it for you properly. See if you can find a deaf person fluent in english and asl to sign it for you this would be the best way.

    Deaf/hearing relationships won't last

She grow-up deaf, but when I met her, her grammer was very bad. I had to help her with a lot of grammer. She was writing as if grammer was based off of ASL. That is the reason why I think deaf schools should teach in English and focus more on grammer. But also teach them ASL in High School...

    Am I crazy??

Early this morning I hadn't quite waken up yet I was still dreaming, but I vividly remember signing to MacGyver(tv show in the 80"s) this" Your clothes? Movie people need buy you new. This was after noting how roughed up his clothes looked and as rich as he was I couldn't understand why he wore...

In New York, worship becomes more accessible to the deaf.

Hey oranjepaard, I am familiar with Rome. I am from fulton orginally and back in the early 80's there was a deaf section at our assemblies and rome and utica was in our circuit #21. That was before the society got the deaf together for their own assemblies. We had interpreters back then. Anyways...

    CODA interpreters

Not all JW's became interpreters after they were JW's many were interpreters before. And I assure you that they don't mix their religious work with their professional work as I said before they follow RID code of ethics. They would never have any outside contact to promote their beliefs while...

    CODA interpreters

Not every jw knowing sign language is a professional interpreter. I am not. I am just learning asl the last 8 months. I knew english sign for many years though. But for those jw's that do do it as a profession outside of the religion, all(or most) have a very good work ethic due to living by...

    CODA interpreters

Well we can't save the world neither did Jesus but the few who will listen are the ones we are interested in. However, that doesn't stop us from talking to all people in all languages worldwide. Jesus told us to preach to everyone door to door and the deaf are not excluded. They have the same...

    CODA interpreters

I can't say for sure whether a jw was the person that said that but I highly doubt it. We don't toot our horns and to be honest while it might be perceived that way, I am not trying to elevate us in this way either. It is just as a group we strive for excellence in everything we do. Their may...

    CODA interpreters

I am very sorry if I came off defensive and emotional. I wish I could learn how to communicate my feelings in a kosher way. I will forever be learning how to do that better. I am referring to the code of ethics that are used with deaf in professional setting, ie dr's office, school, court. I am...

    Sign question

ASL is really radically different from pse. Let me give you an example: "I finally got a new car" in asl: "My goal new car pah! "Or if someone walks up to you and a friend you're telling a long story to and you really don't feel like repreating yourself and they sign, "Story story what's up...

    CODA interpreters

When I say we sincerely want to help them it means we don't discriminate them because they are deaf like so many hearing people do. We sincerely are interested in them as well as anyone of any language. We offer spiritual help and go as far as creating ASL congregations so that the deaf can get...

    Sign question

Alot of signs used in mce are used in asl. But with asl, alot of these signs tend to move around and use space like from one person to another. Like; book, give-you or book,give-me. In english you sign, I give you the book(a sign for each word.) ASL has the advantage of using space to convey...

    Sign question

Those who call pse asl, don't really know that much about asl. I used to think it was conceptual but had no idea about nonmanual markers and grammar and syntax. I thought it was uneducated deaf signing broken english. I used to think SEE was superior. I saw it from a hearing perspective vs...

I have dreamed in sign a few times trouble is I am very fluent in my dreams but not in real life. I guess that means I have no idea what i said. I have a large vocabulary in sign but just learning the asl grammar and syntax. I probably sign english since that is what I learned when I was 10. I...

In New York, worship becomes more accessible to the deaf.

Hi everyone. Glad there is more than one witness on here to talk with. We just had a brother from Dominican Republic give a talk in ASL. Understood him perfectly. He spelled out matteo for matthew and asaf for asaph but other than that he did well. He is a special pioneer. He goes home tomorrow...
