12 second start up delay on my Naidas.

I have your same aids and I had the 12 second delay up until last Friday when she turned the delay off. It is supposed to do the 5 dings, turn on, squeal, cut off, then cut back on 12 seconds later with a different 4 ding chime. Mine did that and she warned me it would.

    HA vs CI"s

I would decide which brand you want based on what's best for you, not on what your center has experience with. Once you choose your brand, then you can choose your center. JMO. My center does all 3 so I didn't have to worry about that.

    hearing aids color

I'm 24 with a purple hearing aid and mold. My CI I'm being activated with next week will have purple and a short of turquoise color covers.

    hearing aid cost

I have a discount program through my insurance, so my Naida S V UP was $1900.

Cochlear implants are nice, but accessory prices suck

If you want your CI company to continue doing research and improving upon their implants, processors, and technology, you will have to pay the price. They have to make a profit AND research money. I agree you should be more careful rather than complaining about the cost. Get an extended warranty...

    Getting new earmolds! Color suggestions??

Mack's silicone is squishy ear plugs. I can pull a small piece off and wrap it around the canal part of my ear mold. Not over the tube, just around the outside where it comes in contact with my ear canal. This gives it a tight fit to seal. I'm healing pretty good. Had an infection scare with...

    Getting new earmolds! Color suggestions??

Yes, all the spice aids are available in the same colors! I have transparent purple. I got fitted for a new mold for my left side on Friday. Can't wait to get it! I'm using Mack's silicone to hold it still right now (it's not tight enough as it was used for a bi-CROS) but that makes my ear...

    Daughter's HA appointment

I think she'll be fine with an ipod or something else to keep her busy, it's really nothing. the Audi takes a tiny piece of cotton with string tied to it and puts that far in my ear canal. Then she takes some blue stuff and some white stuff, then squishes it together in her hands until it's...

    Daughter's HA appointment

Like Laura said, no pain. Just cold and squishy, then your ear feel clogged up of-course.

Auto Immune Inner Ear Disease - CI

I didn't say anything about you moving to the US?!? I was just comparing to explain my point that all circumstances are different.

    18 month old's activation video

Wow I can't hear the sound but it was so obvious when she heard something!! So amazing and so adorable :)

Sound fading in and out and a steady hum in the background...

To the first question, maybe you have a program that is compressing loud noises? Check with your Audi, that's what makes sense to me. I'm not activated yet, so I can't answer to the battery thing.

    Hearing Aids and Headaches

Wow, okay, you've obviously not done much research on CI's! No, I will NOT have normal or better hearing with a CI. I will essentially be functionally HOH. Although I may be able to hear sounds at a lower dB range, understanding is completely different, especially with speech. I don't think...

    Hearing Aids and Headaches

Oc318, you perhaps should stop throwing around assumptions. My loss is WAY worse than yours. I'm deaf as a stone. WITH my hearing aid I can BARELY hear sounds that are above 100dB originally. If I turned my HA down to 120dB, as you so naively suggest, it would be so quiet I wouldn't even notice...

    CI Surgery Date :)

I suffered traumatic deafness from multiple skull fractures.

Auto Immune Inner Ear Disease - CI

I know it's upsetting, I agree, but I don't think it's something to get pissed about. Different people have different resources. I grew up with no hearing aids, didn't get them until 22, AFTER I was adopted as an adult. The only reason I got a CI is because of that as well. I never would have...

    Hearing Aids and Headaches

Just had one today, actually. It's normal. My current mold has a vent. The one my Audi ordered today doesn't. That's because I get too much feedback with a vent. My HA is cranked above 130dB.

    Hearing Aids and Headaches

I usually don't feel it, unless it's very loud. I teach 2yr olds and if one of them is screaming and crying, even though I can't hear them, my ear drum definitely responds! It's a weird feeling, lol.

    Hearing Aids and Headaches

I don't feel the vibration, but sounds does vibrate your eardrum and middle ear whether you hear the sound or not. 130+dB is a lot of vibration! Especially considering I have had damage and surgery done to both my ear drums and my ossicles; they're not as strong as they should be. I am prone...
