The Sorenson app works better than the P3 on both my iPad and on my computer. They're not exactly the same. The new P3 seems to have a lot of bugs in it. I prefer Purple, but they need to do better. Z5 works fine on my iPad, but still Z4 on computer.

I have been in the area for 15 years, part of the time working at Gallaudet. The area is much, much better than it was 15 years ago. Especially near the Metro station.

I get that it would be easier for someone like yourself, or like me. I first started learning ASL at 18 years old, but first became deaf at 11. ASL is different because it is visual. I thought Reba explained it well earlier in this thread. It just would not work if it followed English...

Right now Sorenson is better (my opinion). Purple released a new app, but it sucks. They need to do better than that.

No one answered the idea that ASL is structured the way it is because the inventors of it followed French structure. I believe that is an incorrect assertion. Does the person who brought it up know French? Do you think French Sign Language is the same as spoken French? I have news for you...

I wanted the freebies more than the Z20, which I really liked. Using Z4 on my Mac made up for the loss of the Z20. I love the iPad I got from Sorenson.

I know I couldn't hear her, I'm Deaf! :D I also knew that she couldn't sign, but I did not know that her voice could not be heard. Several characters were using their voices, and signing at the same time, but I had no idea that viewers could not hear them.

It wasn't all ASL! Regina used voice! :lol: I know was only a couple of lines though.

Good luck trying to find a VRS company that has never done this stuff. What you're stuck with is choosing the lesser evil one.

I submit that most people are not proactive in this situation. They're just going to school. By the time they learn that they need to network for the future, it's too late for some. Still, just looking back at the hearing school I went to, networking with other kids would be of no benefit...

What "networking opportunities" do mainstream programs provide that Deaf schools do not? The only time I ever see friends from high school (mainstreamed) is at reunions.

What private schools? I said nothing about that. It's silly to say that education has nothing to do with social skills. Education is not exclusively about social skills, but they do play a part in getting a good education. A good program is not going to ignore those issues.

I will get one if Z, or Purple, or other release VRS software for it.

All of that is included in educating children.
