Is there anyone here who also has chronic pain, ear infections, and or sinusitis?

I sympathize. As a child I had chronic ear infections. My infections got worse, I was always sick as a child. I ended up with TB in my ear, and now I have virtually no immune system. I can't travel without being bed ridden (which totally defeats the purpose of traveling) and I suffer from...

    Am I weird?

Hey, hello!! I've noticed since my hearing loss (Im HOH) I've started to talk less and less. Is that normal? I feel as if I'm super self concious about my voice and the way I form words. I had a lisp as a child and I'm told that its significantly worse. Plus I feel really awkward in...

How do you know if you're left handed or right when it comes to signing?

I've noticed a lot of people say they're ambidextrous. Is that common in people who sign?

    newbie earmold questions

I have earmolds and I like them. I purposely got brightly colored molds so that my hearing aid is easily identified. I have chronic ear infections and chronic pain in my face so I often have to leave my hearing aid out and it makes it easier for my students to know when I'm wearing it

Can HOH genuinely identify as Deaf?

I totally relate to this. I always feel like I'm stuck in the middle. I don't function like a hearing person anymore because I find it extremely difficult to follow conversations, but I don't know ASL very well. I have a hard time fitting in the deaf culture as well.

Can HOH genuinely identify as Deaf?

I had mild hearing loss my entire life, and I struggled with speech. I never identified as hearing or deaf, because I didn't struggle as much as my school seemed to think. And it was never brought up in my house hold. I also didn't learn sign language because my doctor told me I'd grow out if...

    Audiogram

Has anyone ever had the problem of the doctor not letting you see your audiogram? Everytime I asked they would always dodge it. They'd say things like "well you have your surgery coming up so I'll go over the results after" and when I opted out of surgery my doctor RETIRED. Well finally, I had...

How did you become deaf / hard of hearing?

It does because I was being harassed at work after I lost my hearing and I got so mad. I didn't get mad for myself though, I got mad because the things they were saying could negatively affect my nephew. and then I thought to myself if it's not okay for them to say those things about my nephew...

How did you become deaf / hard of hearing?

I had surgery to remove scar tissue in my inner ear and attracted a rare disease. The multiple surgeries to remove the infection caused my hearing loss in my left ear, and I was put on a PICC with 3 antibiotics that had a side effect of hearing loss, which resulted in the loss in my right ear as...

    ASL multimedia project

Hello guys! It definitely has been a while since I last posted, I have been really busy. I opted out of having another surgery to attempt to rebuild my ear, but my nephew has had his surgery to receive a Cochlear Implant (he's two). He will never be able to fully hear since he only has one nerve...

Learning to lip read and wanting to make new friends

Hi! I had a teacher that would help me understand lips better. She had pictures with words on a board, then shed play loud music (I was stiĺl hearing) then she would say a word and I would have to find the word she was saying on the board. I found it very helpful!
