    Maths struggles

I recently found my college math book. If you will post a problem that you need help with, I'll give it a shot. I think that Vampy took statistics and several calculus courses during his college days, so there's a few people here on AD who can help out. Good luck with it.

    AllDeaf is addictive!

There are no chat rooms unless this is something that Alex started recently. The forums can get pretty chatty at times depending on the topic. Welcome to AD and enjoy.

Windows XP allowed to live again

I hope that MS keeps XP going until Windows 7 is ready to go. I've heard too many negative things about Vista to ever put it on my PC. I use the computer as much as some folks talk on the phone or text.

What can you hear at night?(if anything)

I agree with typingtornado. I've been a light sleeper since my Navy days so many years ago. I hear dogs barking, train whistles, fire engines, school buses, and almost everything else. Last night I thought I heard gunshots TWICE!! If I'm really wiped out, I'll put in ear plugs and...

Curious: what do our deaf members do for a living?

I hope that's not 1 1/2 hour EACH way. How many miles do you drive each week? Even with cheaper gas now, it's still big $$ and you probably have to get up way too early before facing traffic and the boss. Pity you.

    Tap Tap...this thing on?

Read books? Thanks for the info. Have you ever read Jeffrey Deaver or Patricia Cornwell's books? I love reading them during my 12-hour weekend shifts. Lincoln Rhymes and Kay Scarpetta are 21st century versions of Sherlock Holmes. Deaver's The Bone Collector was made into a movie a few years...

Trek book recommendation You aren't the only one. I have all sorts of Trek stuff. Done my part to help several folks 'live long and prosper.' :D I also read Trek novels. Just finished a trilogy that describes the beginning and end of a well-known foe. Here's a link for the first book...

    New Signers' Funny Mistakes

Here's a few that I've heard of: One of the students at my alumni had problems with classifiers when he met I King Jordan years ago. The student meant to sign 'nice to meet you', but signed it with two fingers, not one. Later IKJ asked the dept chair what kind of signs were being taught in...

    Tap Tap...this thing on?

TV questions Taylor, Since we're both NYPD Blue fans, I have a question for you. How realistic is it for someone to go from detective to SGT to LT in just a couple of years like Sipowitz during the last season? Which cop show do you think comes closest to getting it right? Hope you stick...

    New police siren

I saw a story about this on the noon news. The new sirens use flashing lights and vibrations. It could help police with Deaf drivers and folks who have their radios blasting. Tulsa police testing booty-shaking Rumbler sirens - Autoblog

What Books Have You Recently Purchased?

Loved Playing for Pizza. It was the first Grisham that I've read. Finished a couple of Jeffrey Deaver and Patricia Cornwell books and a little Trek. Started an Arthur Conan Doyle biography last night. Could be just as interesting as Sherlock Holmes.

    Tap Tap...this thing on?

Long time Welcome back! I watched an old NYPD Blue video last night. I'm not online much but there's a Deaf cop from New Orleans here on AD. Maybe you two could trade 'war stories'. Wish I could remmy her ID. Don't know which is worse -- gray hairs or brain farts.

    Calling all math whizzes

Dixie, I work long hours on the weekends and don't always check AD every day, but I'll try to help when I can. All my school books are in storage and that doesn't help either. You may want to get with Vampy. He's taken enough classes to be AD's Dean of Math. See #12 on link below. Good luck...

who's hearie here on AD? (what are you here for?)

When I was in school, we had to do a weekly presentation about some aspect of Deaf culture. Found AD after doing a search. Lurked for a time and then joined. I'm not on the board as much as I used to be, but still check it out from time to time. Kudos to Alex and mods for all their hard work.
