Wants to Chat To Practice my ASL only to make friends!

Hey! I'm Kris. I just turned 19. I'm late deafened, though ironically I have known ASL and have been a part of the deaf community since I was little. I'm not fluent in ASL and am mostly self taught, but I know enough to communicate and have a good understanding of the different parts to ASL. If...

    help please

Retail stores like that could take a day to call you back or weeks to call you back. It depends on how many interviews they have and how fast they need someone. If you have the skills and qualifications needed for the job then of course you have a chance. Good luck!

    Just Saying Hello From California!

It helped so much actually. I mean, with my hearing friends, hearing fiance (at the time), hearing family, it was difficult because they weren't sure how to communicate with me (other than my mama), but as far as over all, it helped tremendously. I'm incredibly lucky. I also believe being a part...

    The Talking Deafie

I am a talking deafie, I guess. I was born hearing. Became HOH at 16. I'm now almost 19 and profoundly deaf. I don't prefer to talk anymore now that I can't hear myself, but I can talk. I still use my voice with people close to me.

    What did you learn today?

I learned that things never stay the same, and it happens fast. Some change may be for the better, and some may be for the worse. But none the less, things never stay the same.

    Just Saying Hello From California!

I thought about that but as weird as this may sound, I actually enjoy the silence. It's hard to explain, but I'm not too worried about getting hearing back. For me it's more about learning to adapt a bit better to deafness. This is who I am now and I'm okay with that. I have some medical and...

    i711 Relay

I’m new to using relay and know next to nothing about it. For the last few years my hearing aids worked well enough that I could talk on the phone with most people, I just wasn’t able to hear automated messages for some reason. Now, my aids aren’t really helping so I can’t use the phone at all...

    Just Saying Hello From California!

 Hello! I’m not sure what to write here, so I guess I’ll just summarize my reason for being here. I was born hearing. My mama was in the interpreting program when I was a toddler so I had learned sign at a young age. Sign was constantly used around the house between my mama and me. She...
