Got some questions
1 Anyone think the show is pushing speaking on deaf characters?
2 still think it bad for deafies?
3 have your ships sunk?
4 how do you feel about Daphne?
Personally I never thought the show was saying Deaf chapters had to speak... there's was that whole up roar about...
did these get addressed yet?
Ok I completely agree with the first point as for 3 this was discussed in series. And 4 yes Emmett chose not to learn to speak... actually it seems more like he was convinced never to learn... I don't think that's a good thing btw... and before anyone gets upset...

maybe it is a little more regional... im a little farther south than you in delaware but most of the signs on lifeprint (i started out on there too) is the same as the ASL users I know use. he does show words like and thats rarely used but otherwise my Deaf teacher and friends agree with his signs
whenever i am out i fingerspell the entirety of almost ever sign i see ads on buses everything that way i get a lot of practice on common words but also get practice with unfamilliar or more complicated words
i have similar problem i am ambedexterious (sorry my spelling is bad) and i am left dominate for signing but the w handshape is painful and i cant straighten my fingers for 8 handshape with my left hand, right hand is fine no pain can do all numbers and letters but less dexterity with going...

I am hearing and not married but I think you should stand up for yourself and your feelings deaf does not equal dumb and and your husband should not think of you like that. Also he should not put you down to ANYONE EVER. thats just disrespect and it is NEVER acceptable.
How about recording what you are not understanding so you can listen to it at your leisure and treat it as you would the lessons from your instructor. and during your tutoring session once you have it recorded you would just move on and go back to that once you have a chance to hear it properly...

i think if i were to try to explain the sound of rain i would say it sounds like the way someone tapping their fingers rapidly on your skin feels. idk just was thinking about that as its raining here now
