We all suspected it, but now it is confirmed: someone very, very close to the 3G iPhone launch has told me that Apple will announce their new model at the WWDC Keynote on June 9th. The second-generation iPhone will be available worldwide right after the launch, and not at year's end, as previously thought. The new model will also herald new sales policies in some countries.

In Spain, for example, the 3G iPhone will be available for sale at the June 18th grand opening of Telefonica's megastore—an Apple Store-like shop located in the company's historical building in Madrid's Gran Vía— with nationwide availability the next day or after a few hours. The other European countries with iPhone availability will have similar launch schedules.

According to another source involved in the launch, the 3G iPhone will no longer be available at a fixed price point—at least in some countries, and its launch will also bring new sales policies, although these have not been completely specified yet.

The move is a logical step, since the iPhone has clearly solidified its position as the cellphone to beat during the last 12 months, and companies in the cutthroat European cellphone market need to use it as an incentive to capture clients aggressively.

This most probably means the new 3G iPhone will be integrated in the usual marketing systems of carriers, with point-based trade-ups, discounts for carrier switchers and other service-based subvention packages.

too bad as att employees, we wont know when we are allowed to buy it after it will release. probably one or two month just like we werent allowed to buy the current iphone when it released last june for two months.

no. att's policy says customers come first then employees come second. that s why we serve the customers first.

att employee can buy any iphones at att store or apple store but we just wait til att will tell us when to buy them. strangely we have to pay regular iphone plan monthly which is not employee plan. ugh.

Australia will have the fastest Apple 3G iPhone in the world a senior executive of Telstra has told ChannelNews. "We know what is coming we have seen the new device and it will be available on our network as soon as it is launched in the USA. By Xmas this phone will be capable of 42mbs which will make it faster than a lot of broadband offerings and the fastest iPhone on any network in the world " they said.


"We believe that this will be a major driver for many peope to invest in a new smart phone it will will also create a big buzz as many vendors plan to launch new smart phones at the same time" they added.

The 3G version of Apple's iPhone will become available very soon after its June 9 unveiling by CEO/chairman Steve Jobs at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco say Apple insiders. ChannelNews has also been told that Telstra already have 3G phones for testing.

Jobs said recently that Apple plans to release a software kit that allows developers to make applications for the iPhone and iPod touch.

The latest move shows that Apple is lifting restrictions on the iPhone after facing public scrutiny when hackers unlocked their iPhones to work on other cell carriers. In addition, Apple locked out 3rd party application use.

Jobs said that unlocking the iPhone for 3rd party development use may give users access to hundreds of new applications which are not currently available for the mobile gadget.

Apple's decision to open up the iPhone and touch to outside developers is a step many users and industry watchers have been hoping for and demanding since the device's release. So great was the desire for third-party applications that many iPhone users and more recently iPod touch users have taken it upon themselves to crack the gadgets and install everything from banking programs to games. iPhone games could be the next hot item, as music is hot for the iPod.

Investment bank Piper Jaffray, which surveyed Apple stores earlier this month found that the iPhone is not available at half of the Apple USA retail stores, that both the 8GB and 16GB models were unavailable from the online store, and that shortages have been reported recently in the UK, suggesting the older models are beig cleared out, ahead of a new model.

Well, I can figure out like that but work for Apple require you to sign on non-disclosure agreement (NDA), including work at Apple store too, if you break it during employee then you can get fired, if break after employee then you can get sued by Apple if they find out, however some former employees can tell their friend or anyone to make announce if they don't sign on NDA.
